37. Yes...absolutely......forever.
But don't worry, in 250,000 years we can move back into northern Japan. :sarcasm:

This shit is the worst poison ever invented by man. Yes invented...plutonium is not a natural element.
Its created in nuke plants. Who was the brilliant shithead who thought it was a good idea to put it
in pools on the roof of the reactors?
Nuclear power is the most expensive way to generate electricity. That doesn't include the cost of the
clean up after a disaster like this.

They need to evacuate most of Japan now....do you realize that? Where are they going to go?

Who is going to march into those buildings and concrete it all up? :( :scared:

Remember where you were when this happened...its going to effect Japan and the USA for thousands of years. I'm deadly serious.

38. No, but money will get the bunkers built-
and it will all the canned food and water purifiers and air conditioners to go in the bunkers -provided they get it done before the situation becomes critical and money becomes worthless...

Of course when that time comes, they'll be the guy with the bunker- and if you want to live in their bunker and share their food, you'll have to agree to live under their rules.

at Chernobyl was actually a hydrogen explosion, which only an expert would know, imo. I think he is right. When the reactors finally stop fuming and leaking, northern Japan will be an exclusion zone.

The first was certainly steam. The second could have been a combination, or any one of multiple causes. Doubtful anyone will ever really know without re-creating the conditions.

30. Drama Queens?
People concerned about the health of the environment and other human beings are drama queens? Or is it because we suggest nuclear power is dangerous - or that this is a disaster for the world that just keeps getting worse. I don't see anyone trying to claim the sky is falling here. I do see an attempt to discredit those with honest fears and concerns.

Your rudeness is uncalled for - and your comments, on top of being offensive, are absurdly inaccurate.

40. Plenty - here's a question for you
Edited on Thu Mar-31-11 12:58 PM by davidthegnome
Where does their funding come from? How much are they allowed to say in certain disaster situations? How much truth is too much truth and could cause a panic? Where do the dots connect? How many of our "experts" have financial ties to industries with financial interests at stake in this situation? Nope, I don't know the answer. I'm asking you. The experts may know plenty, but what inspires you to trust their credibility?

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of honest and credible scientists - they're (usually) the ones that aren't taken seriously or are written off as crack pots.

There is definitely cause for grave concern here. Personally I have little faith in so called "experts" that are paraded by the MSM, whichever side of the fence they happen to be on... it's the funding that's important.

(Edited to add: Well, I guess that's a few questions. Sorry.)

45. In all reality you did ask one overall question...
Edited on Thu Mar-31-11 05:21 PM by SkyDaddy7
To me that must be answered with a question...Are we to assume none of our respected physicist or even Canadian or other International physicist would come forward & sound the warning if they honestly felt we in America or others around the world were in danger from the radiation coming from Japan?

I think we need to slow down & ask ourselves just how vast a conspiracy it would have to be for everyone to be hiding the dangers from us.

We have plenty respected physicist here in America let alone around the world that would come forward if there were dangers because they are outspoken critics of the dangers of nuclear power. Plus, the amounts being detected by governments & watchdog groups are many thousand times below the EPA limit.

I simply do not see our government being able to pull off such a vast comspiracy even with the physicist that work directly for the Energy Department. Yes, there are selfish bad scientist that would tow the government line if asked but most would not...Most Scientist are like doctors in that they care about humanity...They really do.

Plus, personally I have a very good friend who is a physicist...And although he works in the realm of quantum computing he understands the physics at play here & he actually thinks the media is whipping people up into a panic by leading off every news story about radiation being detected. But he also understands they really do not have a choice as there are so many organizations monitoring radiation levels that the media must report it or look like they are hiding something.

I am 100% confident if there were hazards we would know about it!!

Do you see where I am coming from?

EDIT TO ADD: Thanks for being respectful & nice! It just seems lately here on DU if you say something that goes against the majority you are not treated with respect...That kinda makes me sad but I guess it is just a reflection of the times we are living in. Everyone seems to be a little uptight & I can understand why. :hi:

Edited on Thu Mar-31-11 03:57 PM by DemReadingDU
3/27/11 Fukushima-Daiichi “As Serious As Chernobyl” by Chris Busby
This means the following:.
1. The explosions vapourised some or all of the spent fuel tanks on reactors number 1-3.
2. The accident is as serious as Chernobyl, which is what I stated on Friday last and in various TV and radio interviews
3. There is every likelihood that the pressure vessel of at least one reactor is open
4. There is serious contamination of the sea which will extend the radioactivity to coastal dwellers for hundreds of kilometres through inhalation of sea-to-land transfer of radionuclides and seafood
5. The health effects will be serious and we must consider that contamination will probably be global, though the levels may not be apparent for a while
6. Public within 150km should leave the area immediately.

3/29/11 Deconstructing Nuclear Experts By Chris Busby
Since the Fukushima accident we have seen a stream of experts on radiation telling us not to worry, that the doses are too low, that the accident is nothing like Chernobyl and so forth. They appear on television and we read their articles in the newspapers and online. Fortunately the majority of the public don’t believe them. I myself have appeared on television and radio with these people;

Chris Busby is Scientific Secretary of the European Committee on Radiation Risk. He is visiting Professor at the University of Ulster and also Guest Researcher at the Julius Kuehn Institute of the German Federal Agricultural Institute in Braunschweig, Germany. He was a member of the UK Committee Examining Radiation Risk on Internal Emitters CERRIE and the UK MoD Depleted Uranium Oversight Board. He was Science and Policy Interface leader of the Policy Information network on Child Health and Environment based in the Netherlands. He was Science and Technology Speaker for the Green Party of England and Wales. He has conducted fundamental research on the health effects of internal radiation both at the theoretical and epidemiological level, including recently on the genotoxic effects of the element uranium.
