1. LOL, I love you and you're a goofball: That was video twickery. |
|
Watch it again. It's good. If you still think it's real, watch it again. You'll see what I mean.

3. Regis was probably prompted early what to do. |
|
Every time they showed Obama it was the exact same clip.

4. I've been a Letterman fan since (86?)- he's the master of the set-up like this. |
|
This, IMO, is not on display much anymore but Letterman is the master of it. Why, he'd (on apparently a whim, say because of some mishap he 'overheard' backstage as the show was being taped) get up from his desk, appear to commandeer a cameraman and start pulling him through the halls for minutes, sometimes out onto the street (!) and then down past this or that or into some place, like a deli say. And he'd grab the guy making sandwiches and he'd haul him back into the show- just something crazy like that. Or, after minutes of walking around you'd see something happen which was the "punchline" of his little adventure and then it would dawn on you that the whole thing had been a setup.
If you haven't watched a whole lot of Letterman it's very easy to think it's all real. But most of the time this stuff is carefully staged. Anyway, that aside, I guarantee you that while Obama may have been in NYC, that was not him. Just look closely at the video. It's very good but you should be able to spot it after a few viewings at most. Maybe in fullscreen?
Anyway, as to Regis- again, this is just the sort of thing Letterman excels at. Now, was Crispin glover kicking at Dave's head staged? No. Was Andy Kaufman being chased around by Jerry Lawler live on Dave's set staged? No, at least not by Dave.
But many of his gags work like this. Again, though, I'm a Letterman fan so I've gone off but really, the proof is in the video itself.

5. so that's why nothing on google news about Obama in the audience |
|
and then again the President can't even cohabit anywhere with "us" without a humongous security detail.

8. I'll never forget a gag he did |
|
he would yell at people down on the street and ask them what they had in their pockets. This one guy got that deer in the headlights look and ran away, god I almost peed my pants.
