1. Wow that's an ugly dress - and those tatoos? yikes. Love her
and love what she says - but she needs a stylist big time.

20. I'm not sure what you're talking about.
So you're saying that you have to be "styled" in order to bring the truth with the funny?

Who is she supposed to be like? Ann Coulter?

She looks fine to me. I liked the outfit.

LPYB expressed her opinion, is all. She didn't lay down an edict or insist upon anything. She also said she liked the woman's message.

Your mileage varies.

most all the time and still think they look like shit. Funny thing about impressions -
the general public just might discount what she is saying because her arms are all
tatooed. That's life.

31. I concur. But then, I'm old fashioned and don't keep up with trends.
Apparently looking like an unmade, unwashed, uncombed scribbled-upon bed IS the fashion nowadays. When I was young, the parents were appalled at the way we looked too. The more things change, the more they remain the same, I guess!

I too, like what she said. So we're on the same page there as well...

46. at least no one asked her to "lean over" WHAT THE F&*K are you Saying?
Can't a woman talk about some important issues without a "dressing" down from some quarter.

When are you PEOPLE going to GET IT.

I MIGHT ADD any "DIS" to the Democratic party that did not make it into this "cut" is an insult to any "free speech" protesters on this site. If we dish it out we ought to be able to take it. We have ourselves, been "unkind" to some of our fellow dem. in the past. We should not sensor side remarks we may find offensive in otherwise articulate informative "clips."

I think we can handle the heat.

48. I noticed that when I saw the show. She's looking weirder and weirder as the years go by.
Has nothing to do with what she says, her views, etc. She's an outspoken activist who has the guts to say things. Just a comment that she's looking pretty weird. Which I imagine is the look she's after. Which makes me wonder why. Sometimes people try to look different from others in order to get attention.

She's a good actress, though. Glad her hair is back to dark (she had been bleached blonde until recently).

18. Great show but I have to admit
I kind of miss it when they don't have a jerky conservative on there to bat around...they always seem so shocked with the format, that they actually have to defend the stuff they say and people follow up and call them on their BS!

They're all so used to Faux, LOL...of course he can't get many of them to go on there. They only go for the sound-bite "on one hand, on the other hand" BS where each side gets 30 seconds and then on to something else.

7. Did you hear her when she talked about the bush twins
I heard her say something about the police always coming to their apartment. She said she lived on the same street. But I did not catch anything other than that, because I had just came back into the living room. My son told me she said....that every time the twins had a party the police were called and they were all over the street.

NO ONE should be giving a flying fig about her attire (unless you want to say something nice about it). Criticizing her because of her attire is completely sexist and something I would expect to find on a less enlightened political site. No one does this to men---why subject women to harsher scrutiny?

usually is plagued with which slows down her delivery and makes it hard to listen to.

But she always has something real to say, with genuine concern.

She's smart -- I'm not sure if she's still connected with Air America or what she's doing currently?????

Dress was great -- tatoos real? Big ugly there!!!

I have lost, regained, lost and etc... so many times about this subject. This is the attitude that givess us GWB and Fred Thompsom and the rest of the "know nothing" but they sure do have a great "image" and look good on "TV" leaders we have now and will have until we all learn to GET OVER IT!!!!!

49. The fact that it is hard to determine if she is wearing a bikini top with more
tattoos all over her body makes it hard to take her seriously. I do take her seriously because I know of her and have followed her for awhile. However it is like brittany wearing a short dress that doesn't cover her ass. I think Janene could have chosen a better look for prime time tv.

28. "This dress
exacerbates the very genetic betrayal that is my legacy."

That is one of Janeane's lines in "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion". One thing is, that I, and probably many others have seen her in other situations where she looked really good - the picture the Nation uses in their ads, for example, or when she played Jerry's girlfriend-who-was-just-like-him, on Seinfeld. But here, ewww. The hair, the glasses, the tats, the dress. She's supposed to be smart, and she sounds smart and informed, but she has clearly done something stupid to her arms - had them 'decorated' with something that looks, from a distance, like a splotch of dirt that also makes her skin look paler by comparison. The aesthetics distract from the message, especially when, unlike radio, it is a forum where you can be seen.

58. Point taken, but...
there is nothing wrong with a beatiful woman being lauded for her beauty AND her brains.

My favorite thing she said was 'the mission was accomplished'. So true.

my second favorite bit was Salman Rushdie, "talking about talking about the war".

Those, if you like, were very perceptive statements. And hey, Rushdie looks pretty distinguished for a guy who was in hiding for years. Maher still looks like the wiseass at your high school reunion who acts the same way he did in school.

The worst thing is this...damn near nobody talks about Maher's outfit. JG's is fair game, and that really DOES suck.

That cover on Mcleans magazine takes all the spotlight. The actual article inside is brilliant. Check it out:

http://www.macleans.ca/article.jsp?content=20070920_100442_7900&source=srch&page=1

And I absolutely LOVE Janeane Garofalo. I don't care what she wears. Although I can understand some of the posters here, mostly of the female persuasion, that are brought up with judging the girlfriends clothes first off. Maybe its hard to break that habit. Us guys for the most part look elsewhere first ;)

I like the colorful tats, and even though she'd probably stick her finger in her mouth if she heard this but...she is cute as a button.
Besides that I find her incredibly sexy just for being real and speaking her mind, compared to the glossed and quaffed plastic barbie doll empty talking heads in the MSM.

62. um, mom and dad...
:hi:

...she's rock and roll. she's alternative. she's a hipster.

that's what the look is about.

remember a looong time ago, in the foggy mists of time, when this woman named Janis wore feather boas and sang the shit out of a song? you know, if she had only cut her hair into a cut little pageboy like the girls wore in those gidget movies, worn a nice a-line skirt, more people would have paid attention to her music. Like Pat Boone. He was able to sing Tutti Frutti in patent leather shoes! Little Richard just looked too... weird.

and that Janis person just detracted from her message. oh wait, her audience got what she was about -- and part of what she was about was rejecting the status quo.

maybe that's what JG is projecting here too.
