73. Send MSNBC an email to support David Shuster
The kicker is you send it through to Tucker's email:

tucker@msnbc.com

Here's mine:

What an amazingly refreshing interviewer David Shuster is. I was blown away to see a journalist that actually challenged a politician on her, in my opinion, wrongheaded stance on the Moveon.org advertisement and to expose her hypocrisy and pathetic ignorance or who is paying the real price for the right wing war in Iraq.

This kind of journalism is sorely lacking in America today and MSNBC should seriously consider giving Mr. Shuster his own show. He is apparently available during the "Tucker" program so why not give it to him. Tucker Carlson represents everything that is wrong with contemporary media, Mr. Shuster represents a bright shining ray of light that all is not lost.

Sincerely,

Steven J. Vincent
Oklahoma City

very disappointing.

I sent a letter via the Tucker show praising Shuster but thought sending to the network regarding a show would make more sense.

4. "I stay in contact"
but "I don't know the soldier's name."

Hmmm...

"Constant contact."

So is she in contact with the officers, with the chaplain, or what? The soldiers' families? How about the poor kid who just died? Talked to his family? Guess not. Too busy chasing the info on the Moveon.org ad. Priorities, lady. We don't like your priorities. And the fact you're bullshitting us.

a field day ragging on the nyt like she saved up all her wrath just for tucker only it was David Shuster! Doesn't she know the nyt helped get her and the bushits the oil war on Iraq so she could stay in "CONTACT" with all the Soldiers and their families and email, email, email, email..ad infinitum?

77. You can tell she was surprised because
at the very end of the interview she was just staring blankly at Shuster. Even if she knew Tucker was going to be gone, I am sure she didn't think she was going to get slammed like she did.

Tuckers program is consistently the lowest rating program on MSNBC. They could fix that by replacing him with Shuster.

41. That's all the little twit was doing, babbling RNC boilerplate
to use up the allotted time. They think if they can keep that stream of meaningless words going, the public will think the stupid twerp will know what she's talking about.

Kudos to Shuster, he kept on point and didn't let her get away with it.

Does anybody think he's got a chance of showing little Tucker how it's done, or is Tucker hopeless?

52. It was ridiculous...
No one with half a brain in their head could have listened to that and not caught the fact she kept repeating the same phrase over and over again while simultaneously admitting revealing that it WAS just a talking point phrase.

We can HOPE Tucker is bye-bye, but I'll believe it when I see it (or don't see him, anyway).

She heard his intro re: Republican Hypocrisy and wasn't bright enough/fast enough/good enough to alter her talking points to show why IOKIYAR. Did she really think he'd let her get away with rote indignation over the NYT advert? After that intro? And her stuttering, bumbling "I don't know why I don't know" craptastic answer was priceless, almost Gonzo-worthy.

Betcha she's not going back there again -- not if David Schuster's in the driver's seat and mercy, I wish he could be all the time. Tucker's days are numbered.

They're doing the news the vast majority wants: hard hitting questions aimed at lying scumbags and war profiteers. Why the other corporate media is fighting over the Pox (deliberate typo) News, knuckle dragging Neanderthals, who for the most part are not out spending money they don't have, is beyond reason and logic. Then again, the corporate masters only see tomorrow's bottom line and don't concern themselves with next year, figuring that with enough money in their respective pockets, they'll survive and the weak will die off.
How long do they expect this propaganda dressed as a news charade to continue?

and it is excruciating to listen to her, but I force myself because Matthews almost always puts her down, (not hard to do). Shuster definitely needs his own show. His segments on Hardball are the best part of the show. This guy is a real pro and he knows his stuff. I'm quite sure MSNBC is considering some changes now that Countdown has become a ratings success. I hope Shuster is on their short list.

that a huge majority of us condemn the senate and Bush for their actions to condemn move on rather than support the Webb-Hagel amendment. For the hypocrisy of condemning an ad for not being supportive of the military while not approving an amendment that gives soldiers time off between deployments which is really supporting the troops.
We proved our condemnation of the senates actions by donating over a half million to moveon. Also the polls show that public opinion remains unchanged and unaffected by Petraeus' pony show.
OOOOOhhhh! a double blow...We proved we don't believe or support your Irag policy and that we approve of what moveon is saying. When will democrats in the senate get a clue as to real public opinion and quit listening to the beltway worthless Dems like Diane Feinstein whose husband is profiteering greatly from this war as a defense contractor.
Wished Tucker would have brought up the moveon donations and the unchanged polls and smeared it in miss Tennessee's face in the way of a clear demonstration that she doesn't know what she's talking about and her NYT attack is extremely petty and a waste of time when she should have focused her attention on doing something useful besides emailing families of those victims she supports getting killed.

57. This year's KBH
Marsha Blackburn is this year's newer and younger Kay Bailey Hutchinson. KBH used to be out there telling us her every thought 24/7 and repeating every Repug talking point with that phony smile and southern accent. She was a joke and evidently now is getting too old to fit the Repug blonde mold. MB is on the air constantly spewing her crap.

This was great. Get Tucker off and give David Schuster his own show.

It was a great smack down, but old Marsha's got ice water running through her veins and it barely knocked her off message. Schuster is the best - he needs his own show.

59. Wasn't she just so smug at the beginning?
And she repeated at least two times how MoveOn got a reduced rate from the NYT. Umm... is that a bad thing? Oh, I guess that proves to her that the NYT is just as naughty as MoveOn. I'm surprised the Senate hasn't slapped the NYT on it's wrist as well. How dare they.

63. It's worse for Limbaugh to use the public air waves to air his crap
Why did Shuster accept the idea that it was worse for the Times to publish the ad? That ad was paid for. Nothing prohibits someone else from buying a competing ad.
Radio stations broadcast on public air waves - OUR air waves - how dare Limbaugh and the other RW nuts misuse the public trust in this way.
Also, why do they accept Limbaugh's assertion that the phrase came from a caller? He's a drug-addled gasbag and not credible by any means.

68. Typical Limbaugh lie
I haven't listened to Rush in yrs, but this is typical of what he always does when he has something to say that could be controversial. Blames it on someone else and says he was just repeating... The day he said Hilary had murdered Vince Foster in her secret apartment, his excuse was that he had 'heard' that and was just repeating it. He had used the 'caller' crap before, too.

Typical Repug- personal responsibility is for everyone but them. And they get away with it like they do everything else.

64. I tip my hat to David Shuster.
I also realize it's a sad fact that I am surprised when I witness real journalism in the MSM anymore. He asked pressing questions that obviously weren't scripted for her ahead of time. This interview, unlike so many others in the MSM, was not an open microphone for her to regurgitate her repuke talking points. That one question, "Do you know the name...?" made all the other bullshit she spouted stand out even more as bullshit.

He did a great job and MSNBC will get an email from me saying so.

(yeah, I know, some jerk has to find fault with Shuster. Today it's me)

...I do wish Shuster had brought up some more examples of Republican hypocricy on this, like the Swifties, the Purple Heart band-aids, etc. (Congresswoman, obviously you would be equally outraged at denigrating members of the armed forces who have recieved wounds in the line of duty, especially for political purposes. Can you direct me as to where you're on the record condenming delegates to the 2004 Republican National Convention who wore band-aids with purple hearts on them?)

71. I wonder how many who criticize it actually know what it said.
Edited on Tue Sep-25-07 10:15 AM by Virginian
She seems to know the circulation rates of the paper, the price of the ad and the headline title. I wonder if she actually read the ad -- if she has any idea of what it said.

In the Limbaugh vs Times discussion, it wasn't the words, it was the price of the ad. That struck me as odd, but wing nuts always seem to have a chunk of logic missing when debating these things.

Added on edit:
Shuster is on all the (MS)NBC news shows. He reports the political news and is very valuable in the reporting he already does. If he gets his own show, there needs to be a reporter who can fill his shoes -- someone who can tell it to us straight. David Gregory can't do it all alone.

Joe Scarborough used to be the unreasonable conservative on MSNBC, but I think Katrina opened his eyes and he no longer drinks the Kool Aide.
Chris Matthews, who is from a Republican background even though he did work for Democrats, has seemed to favor Bush in the past, but has not been so enthusiastic since the White House went to Russert to get him fired over the Valerie Plame affair.
Pat Buchanan used to have a show with Bill Press, but he was not a neo-con, did not march in lock step and was against starting Bush's Iraq war. It's hard to have a Point/Counterpoint show when both hosts agree on the main topic of the decade.
When CNN's Crossfire imploded, Tucker needed a show, MSNBC picked him up. He no longer wears those bow ties for his own image. I wonder how much longer he can carry water for the Bushies without logic distroying his image of them.
Does anyone remember Jon Stewert on Crossfire lecturing Tucker on how bad Crossfire was for the unity of the nation?

75. That's what he should have asked...
He should have asked a question about the content of the ad. If she knows, the content gets discussed, if she doesn't she looks stupid, even to them!

Now she can say she was blind-sided.

80. GOP tactic: The "loooooooooong explanation."
Blackburn starts off with short quips criticizing MoveOn and defending Rush, then when her gross hypocrisy is made public, she launches into the "long explanation." I noticed the GOPers use this tactic to run out the clock and to avoid more embarrassing questions from the interviewer. If you're a Republican and you are exposed, ramble on and on about nothing...

88. Is MSNBC testing the waters? Is their a buck to be made from the left wing?
Carlson's show suffers from low ratings, so what's to lose sending Shuster in there with instructions to let her have it with both barrels and see what the public's reaction is. If they hate Shuster, so what? Can't damage that show anymore than it is already. But, if they reaction is "You go, Shuster!" then maybe it's time for the corporate heads to get behind this "progressive thing," and see if it has legs, ala keith O. It's happening on K Street, and in big corporations across the land. Time to jettison the Repugs and go with the winners.

95. I called Rep.Blackburn's office to complain
Someone in her Clarksville, Tennessee office said the young man was not from her district. Well hello Rep. Blackburn, there is this little thing that we like to call "the Google" and it lets us know exactly where your district is and this young beautiful child was from Bon Aqua,Tennessee. Right smack dab in the highly gerry-mandered middle of Rep. Blackburn's district!

It's bad enough that she didn't even know the young man's name, but to lie about it is disgraceful.
