5. Bouree is the song I want played
at my funeral. It stands alone as one of the finest pieces I have ever been fortunate enough to be alive to hear. Nice work on this interpretation.

9. Took up flute playing in the late 60s;
Because of Ian's masterful sounds. Unfortunately, I gave it up a month later. Too damn hard to play.

I wish they would add a SF Bay Area date to Ian's tour. I've seen him twice in the last few years.

Always amazing!

11. I got tickets to see Tull this June
First time since 'Songs from the Wood' ...

I played the flute and recorder for about 6 years ..... I gave them up about 20 years ago now ...

As someone on the YT page mentions - It is unlikely this was 'real time' due to the unavoidable propagation delay time between earth and space ... But it's pretty damned cool, nevertheless ...

My very favorite musician playing into outer space.

I've been a Tull fan since 1971. Learned to play the flute because of Ian. Seen JT at least a dozen times. As far as I'm concerned, Tull is one of the most under-rated progressive rock bands in history.

Can someone explain to me why they are not in the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame????

Love Tull...Love Ian. Class.

16. Don't ask me. I am one of the biggest Tull fans you will ever meet.
But I am a youngster compared to you, having first seen Tull in 1981 (10 years after you).

Still. I have been seeing Tull for 30 years and have gone to perhaps 20 shows and taken my daughter to 2 of them. I've met Ian several times, once notably in Japan.

I think Tull IS terribly under-appreciated and I can't understand it. Just listen to Passion Play for God's sake!!!

Geeze...I thought I was the "real" Tullhead"

Indeed, if there is an offering from Tull that is the most unappreciated, it would be A Passion Play. If I remember correctly, it was panned so badly by the critics, Ian nearly quit. Of course, it followed the groundbreaking "Thick As A Brick" which the critics loved.

My favorite CD is Aqualung. Yeah, I know...it is everybody's favorite Tull album. But don't get me wrong. It isn't because of its commercial success. Regardless of whether it struck a chord with the public and aside from that, it is extremely well produced and well written. Forget the title track...of course good...but overplayed. It is the cuts "between the lines" that make this a hallmark offering from the boys. The way they wove the hard sound with the melodic strings is like nothing before or since. Songs like "Wondering Aloud" or "Slipstream" are strokes of genius.

No matter how many times Ian denies that Aqualung is a theme album, I will always disagree. There are too many related themes and messages.

I also enjoyed the string of "seemingly" related albums that ran one after the other: Songs From The Wood, Heavy Horses, Minstrel In The Gallery, etc. etc. Individual cuts worth noting are "One White Duck" (incredible lyrics) - "Black Satin Dancer" - "Moths" - "The Clasp" - "Quizz Kid" - and the amazing "Dun Ringil."

Who can deny the power of "My God" or "Wind Up" or "The Hare Who Lost His Specticals" (a cartoonish tales of God and our own soul).

Perhaps one day long after we are gone, Ian Anderson will be seen in the same light as a Bach or some other classic musician.

You couldn't tell if he was playing while standing on one leg.

25. In fourth grade I asked for the lightest instrument. Little did I know
then that it would mean being surrounded by girls (other flute players). (The ribbing I'd gotten from other boys for playing a "girly" instrument quickly gave way to envy...)

In high school I was bowled over by the great sounds Jethro Tull (Ian) could add to that pure tone instrument by humming and other tricks. But after trying for the same effects during orchestra rehearsal one time, the conductor yelled at me to stop listening to rubbish music on the radio.

Thank you Ian Anderson for a lifetime of wonderful rubbish music!

And thanks for posting this Bonobo!
