1. go effing figure. Every time I call my student loan (Sallie Mae) I get routed to INDIA
where I am asked to provide my financial information as well as my social security number. I hang up nearly every time because "Jim" or "Jill" can't speak English well enough for me to make any sense of anything. Its frustrating as hell. Thanks alot Hillary.

14. Funny, I don't have any problem understanding the people who take my calls
for various companies (I don't have Sallie Mae). Maybe I've just been lucky and gotten companies that have American call centers?

Somehow I doubt that.

I would be more sympathetic to the "problem" if it weren't that I haven't experienced it. AT ALL. Yet for some folks, it's a ubiquitous and crushing problem. Hmmm.

2. Yeah, the argument that the income from those visas would be used
to educate and train Americans.... please.

I wonder why so many democrats are in favor of this relationship?

6. Isn't it funny if you think Americans should have jobs rather than other nations suddenly your a
racist? I just think that epithet is thrown around a little too much.

11. I get "xenophobe", myself.
Of course, that and "racist" assumes ALL American workers are white citizens, doesn't it? The offshoring supporters kind of don't take that into account.

9. Agreed
He is right. It's about the keeping things fair, middle class wages have been flat for 30 years and this visa program is just another gift to the corporations to keep them that way.

16. Bottom line is that corporations are using political clout to keep our wages low!
Edited on Tue Sep-25-07 12:34 PM by calipendence
Everything spins from that, whether it be health care issues, outsourcing restrictions, H-1B Visas, immigration laws, bankruptcy laws, tax laws, etc.

And keeping our wages low is at the CORE of our economic meltdown which is showing huge signs right now through the interest rates, falling dollars, and the starting collapse of the housing market. The only thing that REALLY will fix that problem is for average American's income relative to inflation to at least keep pace and for a time grow PAST inflation, and for those at the top to shrink vs. inflation. Then we can perhaps start recovering our middle class, rescue the dollar, rescue the housing market, etc.!

Rich folks might not like it, but they've been living to high off the hog for too long now, and has lead to the growing destruction of this economy, just like they did at the beginning of the last century. It needs to STOP!

H-1B Visas are nothing more than a gift disguised as "we're trying to make up for educational deficit".

Yes, education is also needed, especially when Indians get FREE bachelors degrees in their countries versus what kids have to pay for here in a VERY risky investment any more. And other countries also subsidize younger folks' education more than they do here too.

But even giving us free bachelor's degree won't stop companies from trying to hire from India if they can get folks cheaper that way. We need to stop the corporate "governance", which is a sad joke no the American people!

13. That's the truth
There is nothing bigoted about wanting to keep our middle class from sinking into poverty, which is happening now at an alarming rate. Dobbs blows the whistle on large corporations and he gets attacked by both the left and the right.
