2. This speech should have been given two years ago |
|
the day he walked into office. With Congress following up by getting rid of the Bush tax cuts for the rich and then raising taxes on the rich.
We could have saved 1.2 trillion already and even more rolling taxes on the rich back to a higher number than the Clinton days.
Do you know what that would have done for this country.
It would have been a double shot to the stimulus.
Better late than never.
Now that we don't have the house it will all ride on 2012.
I see he's in campaign mode right now. Unfortunately for us after we delivered the house and the Senate his promises were not followed through.
Don't talk about it be about it.

If it was the Dems would still be in control of the House.

4. Obama gives great speeches -- and then he lets us down. |
|
Edited on Thu Apr-14-11 03:04 PM by JDPriestly
That has been his pattern in the past.
This speech was exceptionally clear in its statement of the core American values that all but the most bigoted and greedy agree on.
But I am reminded that Obama's biggest weakness is his overly gracious heart. When faced with having to say "No" to people with whom he is negotiating, when faced with the responsibility for leading in a showdown, President Obama becomes weak in the knees and falls apart. The Republicans know this.
President Obama needs to watch the movie, High Noon, over and over and over until he understands the courage of the character Gary Cooper plays.
Unlike Gary Cooper, Obama has surrounded himself with sell-outs if not criminals. The speech was full of valuable insights, but, based on my past experience, I do not expect Obama to act on his insight.

9. He should run the Presidency like a fictional movie character?! |
|
I'm not fully satisfied with Obama, but your post is illogical.

12. He should soak up the courage of the character. |
|
Maybe he could copy some of that courage. Wouldn't hurt. There are times when you just shouldn't give in.
The Republicans are aching for a showdown. Obama looks very weak because he is always trying to compromise -- to the detriment of his supporters, the poor and the lower end of the middle class, the very people he was elected to represent.

I mean this is after the budget deal has been agreed to. So rhetoric is nothing to get excited about. Remember Obama told Ohioans that he would renegotiate NAFT.

Once again.....the executive branch is ONE of THREE branches of government. I get frustrated listening to my own progressive brothers and sisters and how they are upset that this "man" didn't change the total course of this nation. Once again, I hear the skepticism that "he will let us down again". Well yes......you won't get all you want. You might only get a piece of what you want.
As in the Health Reform Act, turning this great ship around in the water can't be done on a dime, and with one other branch fighting his every move, and the other in gridlock with chicken "democratic Senators" polluting the water.....we need to keep the whole picture in perspective.
President Obama has done more than any other president since the awful reagan blight, and he certainly has called the skeletons out into the open. We may not get all we want, but by God, with the support of the people and OUR action to replace the repukkke and "spineless democratic Congressmen", we can make a difference together.
So, QUIT YOUR DAMN COMPLAINING, and either get on board or get the hell out of the way. WHO do you think could have done more?....Kucinich? Clinton? Edwards?....Grayson? If you think so, you live in a fantasy world. This man has the intelligence and the gift of speech to make the difference we can work with. Kucinich is a god, but he NEVER would have had ANY cooperation from the repukkkes and half the corrupt democrats in Congress. We would have gotten less than what we have gotten in the past two years.
And to those of you ready to quit...then the next palin/gingrich presidency will be your fault. I believe in this man, President Obama, and he is not running this country by himself. He has to work with the winds and storms in front of him....and he's doing a hell of a lot more than anyone else I can think of would be able to do. After all, we could have had mcAncient and the Alaskan-idiot running things. Then, just think where you would be.
Give him your support, or give him your vote and just sit on your ass on the sidelines. My two cents.

would have been put in the grave before he was elected POTUS. Think about it, if Reagan never was elected.

11. The conservanazis want a saint to counter Franklin Roosevelt. |
|
They can't handle the truth about raygun. When I hear a conservanazi heaping praise on the traitor raygun, I tell him 3 things he should remember: 1. raygun cut and run from Lebanon when the Marine barracks was bombed. 2. raygun negotiated and traded arms to Iran, a terrorist state, when he said he wouldn't. 3. Read the final OFFICIAL report on the Iran-Contra actions.
raygun was a mouthpiece. That's all he was. No intellectual giant there. The conservanazis think it they keep telling us how f*cking great he was, we MAY believe it.
raygun and his adulterous wife believed in astrology, if that makes any difference.

14. I personally believe the speech sounded great but isn't |
|
as progressive as everybody is saying it is. It does tell how bad Reaganomics is but in reality isn't doing anything about it, but rather operating under its auspices. Its still about cutting $4 trillion dollars over the next 12 years primarily from domestic spending with some "savings" from defense in an economy that hasn't recovered fully yet and has lingering unemployment.
