3. Perfect post timing, considering this gem from Obama... |
|
"We’re a nation of laws! We don’t let individuals make their own decisions about how the laws operate."
Meanwhile, those on Wall Street and in high office can make all the decisions they want.

20. The omited truth is those who control how Wall Street operates |
|
Are often the same people with layers of their henchmen that determine which laws get enforced and who they get enforced on. That small minority that has the heft to bend the truth till it fits their needs and gets angry and ostracizes the ones who are unable to see it their way. Our duty is not be unhappy about it but more to make those who are effecting it very uncomfortable doing it.
What a interesting life Mr. Carlin must have lived; On stage in a form of contemplative and intuitive thought rifling off that thinking in a sarcastic comedy outing peoples true motives and stripping off the finish of our over-glossed society. We all deserve much more of it

Does anyone know how brilliant a point can be made through comedy?
I'm preaching to the choir here, but Carlin was brilliant at it. So absolutely, dead-on, cutting edge, and FUCKING WELL RIGHT about it all.
RECOMMENDED!

100 years from now (assuming the world is still here by then) you might well see George Carlin in political science textbooks.
If he hadn't been a comedian, I'm sure he'd have turned up dead in a bathtub somewhere long before 2008.

Obviously this was originally produced by one of those "Zionist secretly control our United States" types.
I had to watch this 3X before deciding to share it at DU because of that flag.
There seems to always be a bit of "no thanks" mixed in the "yes please" these days.
On the other hand, A debate could be had about the alliance of our United States and Israel.

52. What? Don't like the fact that Israel is having the US on a leach, bossing them around? |
|
basically giving first Joe Biden and then president Obama himself the middle-finger about the peace-process, while they continue to build illegal colonial settlements which they robbed from the rightful Palestinian owners (like how Germans who took over the homes of jews who were being taken away)? Don't like to be reminded of the fact that this, the no. 1 reason for hatred of the US in the Middle-East, is being paid for by your tax dollars, because US presidents and Congress take their orders from AIPAC and the right-wing extremist government in Israel, which includes Avigdor Lieberman, the man who said the Westbank should be ethnically cleansed of all Palestinians?
Will I be labeled an anti-semite for these remarks? Probably. Will I get accused of sympathizing with Palestinian terrorists? Probably. Will my post get alerted and deleted? Probably. But will anyone challenge me on the facts as posted above? Highly unlikely.

23. Out of all the themes Carlin "preached" on, |
|
this is my favorite -- the illusion of choice. In the last presidential primary most of the country got to vote for Obama or Obama in a pant suit. The truth was, there was virtually no difference between the two candidates. That didn't happen by accident. In the general election we had a "choice" between candidates that:
- wanted to continue the Afghanistan war - wanted to keep Guantanemo open - advocated tax cuts for the wealthy - advocated cutting Social Security - advocated cutting Medicare - advocated vouchers - advocated NCLB - refused to old past regimes accountable for their crimes - in a time of deep financial need gave the money to the people who caused the downfall in the first place instead of creating jobs programs. - wanted to expand the coal industry - wanted to expand the nuclear industry
At what point to we stop accommodating them?

24. This is what today's comedians |
|
should aspire to. Because the fucking media certainly to fuck isn't going to allow us a glimpse of reality. Do you hear me?
I'll tell you what. We should have a big fucking monument to George Carlin. Not because he was a funny fucker, which he certainly was, but because he was an insightful fucker. We need a huge bronze statue dedicated to George Carlin. I know he wouldn't want one but I figure he is 79% more deserving than the other fuckers that have one.
