This weekend Sean Hannity will continue the Iran tag team match started by Joe Lieberman this week through the Lieberman-Kyl legislation. The saber rattling on Iran continues to no one's benefit, certainly not ours. The above video was the kick off for Iraq, the sequel; Iran or bust. That Kirsten Powers is co-hosting the discussion makes the "debate" all the more insane.

Enriched nuclear materials already exist on the black market. Several metric tons are unaccounted for in the Russian inventory alone. Attacking Iran will do little to nothing to stop nuclear weapons from being built by rogue nations or terrorist actors. Instead of attacking Iran we should use the resources to prevent a device from being detonated in the homeland. Or green energy technologies.

Attacking Iran's nuclear facilities is probably the only way to guarantee that they WILL actually develop nuclear weapons. They can blunder and wish all they want, but the right wingers won't be able to put the nuclear genie back into the bottle.

If you are a small country the only way to guarantee sovereignty is to acquire nuclear weapons. Israel and North Korea immediately prove the point.

Wrong - bombing them won't do anything to set back their clandestine program. If such a program exists the best chance the international community has is a UN monitoring program. Such a program is clearly negotiable as Iran has repeatedly offered. Bombing their nuclear facilities would make the problem significantly worse.

The only "force" option that could stop this hypothetical Iranian program would be an "Iraq" style invasion of Iran. We've seen where that leads. The neocons lost this hand and their best current option is to fold. The neocons may be so ignorant and stupid that they miss this obvious point. It wouldn't be the first time.
