Thom talks to Congressman Earl Blumenauer(D-OR, 3rd district). Since Republicans
in the House are refusing to vote for a clean bill to raise the debt ceiling -
some Democrats are offering up their own list of demands on a debt ceiling
increase and budget for next year. Led by Congressman Earl Blumenauer from
Oregon - a group of Democrats penned a letter to the White House last week
calling for any debt-ceiling deals to include an expiration of the Bush tax cuts
for millionaires and billionaires. The letter points out that ending the Bush
tax cuts will “stop the growth of the deficit over the next decade.” On the
other hand - the enormous spending cuts that Republicans are pushing for will -
as the letter also notes - “risk plunging our economy into a double-dip
recession that will cost further jobs and ultimately worsen our fiscal
situation.”

1. Like the Big Oil "entitlements" or the Mega-Farmer "entitlements"...
hehe...in our house we've now changed those "tax breaks" to "entitlements", since the Thugs want to keep the first and do away with the second.

2. Thank you Thom.
Your "getting the word out", is so important, especially in this war being waged against us.

Truly, IMO, the best defense is a good offense. We have to bring this fight to them.

While we do have some Progressives in the Congress, it seems that we cannot count on the White house to really fight for average Americans. This is very sad, but true. I do not see (unfortunately) another viable choice for our "Democratic" President. Though, if we would actually nominate the best person for the presidential race, we have some great Progressives that could put America, "back on track." The choices on the other side are horrendous. IMO, this is just as TPTB want it. Hopefully, we can change our two party system and abolish the Electoral College. It will take educating the average citizen as to the real nature of the beast. Since President Obama is signaling his willingness to have the FCC completely remove the Fairness Doctrine, (although Reagan has already removed the enforcement) we must improve the Free Speech T.V. viewership or launch some successful education plan to combat the current propaganda.

We really need to bring this fight to them and at least, win a few battles.
