Ultimately - President Obama’s deal is heavy on spending cuts - light on tax hikes. So even if Republicans set aside their urge to crash the economy for political and personal financial gain - and agree to President Obama's lopsided debt-limit proposal...is this REALLY a good deal for the majority of Americans? Are cuts to Medicaid and Medicare without tax hikes on millionaires and billionaires a good idea?
The answer is simply no. There's a new study by the National Bureau of Economic Research on Medicaid that plays into this. Plus Brzezinski spoke out about wealth inequality and social unrest.

1. It's called Social *Security* for a reason. . .
It protects the weakest while it maintains order within the social structure.

When Grandma begins to starve -- as she was in 1933 -- what lengths will people go to see she's cared for? And at what price to the social order?

Those who blithely discuss denying her comfort and care for short term monetary advantage today do not realize the price they may ultimately pay. They sow the wind.

2. I seriously think that those in the ruling elites believe they have us all
drugged or at least distracted with television and the Internets.

Back in the '30s, workers had been organizing face-to-face for decades and were able to agitate in the streets and even engage in open confrontation. Even after the Red scare after WWI, labor unions, communists, and socialists had enough teeth left to raise the real possibility of biting back.

In our virtual world, I think we've all become de-fanged in terms of posing any real threat of social unrest.

At least for the time being.

5. In all this talk about cutting spending, where are the proposals to cut military spending?
I don't mean cutting the rate of growth of spending. I mean REAL SIGNIFICANT cuts in military spending. We don't need to be invading and occupying half of the countries in the world at the beck and call of the oil companies and the military industrial complex. When you spend as much money on military as the rest of the world combined, you have some misplaced priorities.

8. If you want to be a politican you need to avoid the corporate 3rd rail...
The cash cow military.

What difference does it make if you step on the other 3rd rail? Well... we need to show them what happens. We need them to see that they work for us, politicians and corporations alike.

10. How Much Do People Really Care
Why haven't we seen social unrest already. Well, outside of Wisconsin and that wasn't all that massive and it actually lacked passion so the demonstrators lost. It will take civil unrest on a large scale to drive home the message of who is really in charge (and it is not Wall Street as so many politicians think). People need to be prepared to be arrested -- in large numbers -- this is the key. Are you ready?????

11. K&R. So sad that liars have so much control of the mass media.

Blatant lies are trumpeted every day by Ryan, the Republicans and their new Libertarian hit squads.

Very demoralizing to people to see all those lies while 80% of us are still living in an economic depression.
