1. not much here. the debt limit was going to be raised anyway. pretty much nobody got what they wanted

otherwise so far. and the debt limit increase in going to come in steps, not gotten over in one jump. repubs got a no tax increase break, dems get a no decisions on cuts break. sort of a neutral outcome it seems. big decisions have been put off.

This is just more imperial presidency garbage. McConnell is revealing himself to be a monarchist by instinct. Authorizing the spending of public dollars is a function of law writing. It has to be done by the Congress. Boehner & McConnell need to grow up, quit playing games, and do their fucking jobs. They took an oath. I wish to God they spent as much time reading the Constitution as they do wrapping themselves in it. If they try this cockamamie scheme, any competent federal judge will swat it down in a second.

when I heard how mcconnell was going to go about it, I thought to myself that this gives the GOP the distancing room from Obama and then they can turn around after the fact and pin the whole mess on him, while they look like butter could never melt in their mouths.
