Never mind that a good chunk of the money added to the debt was the Bush tax cut extension Repubicans insisted on, or that the stimulus created about 2 million jobs...

4. Sorry, but we don't get to invent our own facts. They are what they are.
Edited on Wed Jul-13-11 10:56 AM by GreenStormCloud
"Never mind that the unemployment rate has dropped since Obama took office..."

January 2009 stats from a January 2009 article: http://money.cnn.com/2009/01/09/news/economy/jobs_december/

Unemployment rate in January of 2009 was 7.2% It is now 9.2%.

Yes, the Republicans are going to beat Obama over the head with it, just the way they did Jimmy Carter and his misery index.

I got mixed up on the x-axis of the graph, and was actually looking at October 2009. Sorry!

7. UNEMPLOYMENT WAS ON ITS WAY UP WHEN OBAMA TOOK OFFICE. HELLO!!!
Edited on Wed Jul-13-11 11:57 AM by RBInMaine
It was at 7.2 on its way UP and losing 700,000 jobs a month. It CONTINUED this spiral for several months, BIGTIME. I believe we reached 10%. Now we are growing the economy again, just not fast enough. So let's get real.

9. I am real. The OP corrected his error of fact before you posted.
In his original post he said: "Never mind that the unemployment rate has dropped since Obama took office..."

The unemployment rate has not dropped from 7.2% That is a simple fact.

Yes it was on the way up. But that was not the original statement of the OP.

In post #5 the OP poster gracefully accepted my correction of his "facts" and corrected his post.

If unemployment stays as high as it is then Obama will likely be a one-term President. Don't forget that only nine months ago we got our asses handed to us in the mid-term elections. In addition to losing the House and almost losing the Senate we saw several state legislatures flip from blue to red.

11. It was at 10.2% at one time.
I love how the "Small govt" crowd is practically begging for govt intervention in the free-market. God forbid anyone blames the record-profit-holding corporations for failing to hire in the private sector. Isn't this what they want, the govt to butt out? Or do they really want govt intervention?

8. Manipulation of the Facts
The Republicans are expert at blaming their failures on the other party.

10. Apparently they thought Obama was a magic messiah
Yes, the truly deranged believe you can stop a massive oncoming train by placing one man on the tracks. What a bunch of disaster capitalists. Only the brain-dead will still fall for their propaganda. Basically they are saying "Why can't you fix the economy as fast as we broke it?!"
