Interestingly enough, it was a member of the State Dept. that thought up the idea and asked Lady Gaga to do the event.

One of the added advantages of Lesser Bush being out of office is we get our cultural diplomacy back. At this point during Bush's first term, we were doing "freedom fries." I don't know about the GOP, but I value good relations with other liberal democracies.
