Republicans keep playing the same game over and over again, and sadly there are always some who believe them. Evidently they don't need to come up with any new tricks, being they can just recycle the old ones.

Recently I watched an old political movie, The Best Man (1964) with Henry Fonda. The conservative candidate gave a campaign speech which was almost identical to what one would hear today - Cut taxes, decrease spending (except for military spending), kill Social Security, and a lot of commie baiting, which today would be "Islamists". Some things really don't change.

2. So, ok...One question. What's preventing Pres. Obama from

standing up at one of his news conferences, with a chart just like that, and explaining to the American people what Thom just said?

See, this is one of the reasons I feel like Obama is not interested in progressive principles. He COULD explain those charts in the same way Thom has, and he COULD list the predictions of Medicare/SS default, as Thom has.

That would be so much better than intellectual bafflegab that causes one's eyes to glaze over.

I wish every progressive commentator would remind the audience about this repeated scare tactic.
