I have heard this type of ministry, and it's twisted.
Should the separation of church and state prohibit her from running? ("It's a joke, son")
Ugh.

My favorite televangelist Impy Jack (who I watch whenever I want to feel extra good about being an atheist) finishes up every week with a prayer in the same tone- begging Jesus to come creeping into his little brain and take even more control of his mind...

in every Christian church... the funny thing is how the YTs seem so shocked, because every bit of it is entirely commonplace to a large part of the country... thats' what EVERY ONE IN CHURCH DOES... everyone acts as sincere about the same catch phrases and metaphors as they possibly can to PROVE to the Lord that they are worth being 'saved'... it's hilarious

29. Exactly! As I got to be a teenager I... |
|
really began to think people don't really believe this god thing is real...However, I quickly learned how wrong I was especially after joining the military! So, I made the "mistake" according to many Christians I know & instead of going to church to learn about Christianity & it's deities I went out & bought a Bible & began reading on my own...I WAS SHOCKED! The more I read the more I simply could not understand how anyone in their right mind could believe the stuff I was reading was real!
...I honestly think it is sad that most Christians, especially in the USA, push what we actually do know about the natural world aside & continue to adhere to the ideas of Bronze Age & Iron Age MEN. I honestly feel like I was born in the wrong time period so I could only imagine what folks like Thomas Paine must have felt like! LOL!

40. Have you taken the Pew Research test on Religion? |
|
Atheists and agnostics scored the highest followed by Jews and, strangely! Mormons. Protestants came next and Catholics dead last. You committed the unpardonable sin--you actually read the bible. Most Protestant churches just listen to the pastor cherry pick a couple of verses and expound on his interpretation and opinion on them. The pastor generally didn't read the entire bible himself in seminary school, if he even went to it. And they mostly like reading from the Old Testament. Catholic priests read almost exclusively from the New Testament and preach selective dogma. The flock concentrates mostly on the dogmatic teachings (Virgin Mary, Trinity, miracles, saints, Annunciation, etc.). But, reading the bible where it teaches about Jephtha sacrificing his own daughter, a pregnant Tamar being sentenced to burning, infanticide, genocide, sanctioned rape, incest, and every brutality known to man, was what turned me into an unbeliever. Strangely, when you mention these verses to Christians, they look at you disbelievingly and say: "The bible doesn't say that!"

50. Yes, I did take the test back when it was in the news... |
|
I did it with a couple of friends who are hard core Christians & the results were frankly SAD...I scored leaps & bounds higher than they did & they just laughed it off & repeated the old crap about it does not matter how well they know the Bible as long as they have Christ in their heart...Or some crap like that.
The sad fact is most Priest, Preachers, Chaplains, etc., have been to seminary school & know the evils, the contradictions, the anything but divine history of how the Bible came to be the collection of books it is today, etc., but they would NEVER permit such stuff to be taught in their congregation's Sunday School classes & would NEVER preach it from the pulpit...And this is why most "Christians" don't know these things actually exist!
Those who do know some of what is in there block it out & if you point it out to them they will accuse you of taking the verse out of context or that "only if you ask Christ into your will you truly understand the deeper meaning of the Bible"...They are so emotionally attached to the Bible it is like telling a mother her child is a brat they will never see it!!
I honestly feel deep sorrow for many people who call themselves "Christians" because they have allowed themselves to block themselves off from the true beauty meaning of what it is to be a human being...However, my deep sorrow quickly evaporates knowing most use their religion to hurt others & slow the progress needed in this fast past world we live in...That or they are easily used by the wealthy to vote in favor of hurting others, including themselves financially, & blocking the needed changes we need to protect our environment as science say we need to do! Frankly the stupidity disgust me!
Nice to meet you! :hi:

26. Bachmann always sounds as though she's possessed, and |
|
in this case by something demonic. Does she not think people will find it more than a little coincidental that she left her church at the same time she decided God told her to run for president? The fact that this woman is taken seriously in certain circles (of the extreme right wing nature of course) as a presidential candidate is frightening.

30. If you think Bachmann |

is creepy, brace yourself. She's just the warmup act for Rick Perry. He's the real deal: a pulpit pounding political televangelist backed by the same money mob that brought you George W. Bush. The difference is that Perry is an evangelical rock star who can weave a seamless garment of religion and politics for the faithful of both Wall Street and Church Street.

hate filled people expecting from us - conversion by repetition or osmosis?
They think we are sick, we think they are sick.
And the two top running Republican candidates are full of hate and fear for human beings and they use our airwaves and laws to do it.
We, who believe that we are individuals on a planet full of people, are surrounded and of top interest by many groups -
two of the most serious are the BG who want to own our labor, obedience, and submission and those who want to own our soul, obedience, and submission
by using things they own - a slanted medium for entertainment over in-depth, fair and balance news, cheating-faulty voting machines, and the central bank, and a decades old head start by a select group with a plan.

It's disgusting and completely anti-God. She's made it obvious that she thinks the "Jesus/Lord/God" she's pretending to talk to is such a feeble-minded deity that 'he' has to be reminded by a snake-tongued mortal of what 'he' has done and is going to do.
Unfortunately the extreme religious right sheep haven't the capability of picking apart her bleating words and seeing them for what they really are.
It's pathetic.

for every 100 or so that chuckle or vow to expose her, another dozen or so tilt toward her flock. It's those dozen she wants to shepard into the fold, and to hell with the first 100. she didn't care about them anyway and now she's picked up free publicity....
she must be stopped, though.......imagine her debating or negotiating with someone like, say, Putin. now THAT's scary.

|
in any manner. She is scary sounding, uses oddball language, and clearly has extremist views and hasn't disavowed the guy who wants to kill gays she has an association with.
I love Cenk saying, "where are the children?" in that tone, and when Cenk says do you want that person to be the president, and Ana says, "ABSOLUTELY!", so funny.
Bachmann is crazy, but should we be getting her out of the picture by embarrassing her so soon is my question? There's so much horrible evidence to use against her if she were the nominee, I'd prefer her over the mainstream candidates like Perry (if he runs), that I wish they'd hold back because we'd win 60 GOP seats in the House! LOL

44. I will be the first to say Bachmann is a loon, but.... |
|
.... I think TYT did their best to make more of that than was actually there. I heard no mention of the group she was supposedly praying for in the recording. It appears to be taken out of context, so we don't really know what her weird prayer was actually about.
I hope like hell that Bachmann actually wins the nomination. If there was ever a slam dunk for Obama to get a second term, it is her. I don't think most moderate repugs would even consider voting for her and I know damn well the progressives of the world won't.
I just don't think you have to take things out of context to attempt to discredit her. She is going to give plenty of that ammunition in context and probably on TV.
