1. Norquist is actively recruiting congressmen to subvert the constitution.
Why isn't HE in Guantanamo?

2. Now I really want us to default.
Norquist must be in the market for a house or a car. I want this guy to pay through the nose.

3. I was curious! Who is Grover Norquist?
Edited on Thu Jul-21-11 07:21 PM by DianaForRussFeingold
Is he an elected official? Answer...NO!

'Grover Norquist is a strong supporter of tax reform and he wants to make sure the GOP keeps tax increases out of any debt deal.'

4. If we default and interest rates go up permanently, they win.

It will ensure across the board austerity measures, and we'll be spending all our money on interest payments.

9. I agree! Isn't default is what BinLaden wanted?
The people who want us to default better think about that!!!

I'm seriously worried!

5. I call BS
I have talked to enough teabaggers to know that they WANT a default, to make it impossible for the US to borrow. They have literally said to me "We will screw the Chinese so they won't lend to us anymore." They think this will force a balanced budget because we can't borrow the difference anymore. They are batshit-crazy serious about their so-called "2nd American Revolution"

7. I'd rather have no tax increase than a default.

Dems have the high ground - we need to stay there. And then maybe we can convince the public to get rid of these crazies in 2012.

10. I think the "no-tax" thing is a red herring.
The sad fact is, here in rural Alabama any Repub who votes to increase the debt ceiling UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES will be found swinging from a tree next time he dares to visit his "constituency".

12. Chuck just laid out who they get their marching orders from -- good move in the austere US Senate
Chuck here is clearly showing that Norquist and his fringe kind are running the show. Republicans have to be embarrassed about taking marching orders from Norquist (juxtapose him with their frequent vilification of "unelected" "unaccountable" bureaucrats - Norquist isn't even to the level of a bureaucrat). Great move Chuck. Not for us but in the US Senate that carries a lot of weight. They know what he means by that.

15. Or could it be... ?
...that Norquist realizes that he'll go down in history as one of the most reviled and destructive idiots ever? That he'll own the disaster that's going to befall us for the remainder of human history? Will all avoidable man made disasters in the future be called 'norquists'?

16. we don't need a compromise.
Edited on Thu Jul-21-11 09:17 PM by bowens43
It's time for Obama to grow a spine. Any 'compromise' that includes a cut to entitlements or or medicare should be rejected outright with no discussion.
