1. I believe that the universe is one creation, that I am one with the universe, |
|
that we are all one with it, parts of the universe, but one.
And science is the study of the universe.
I use the word "God" to refer to that oneness that is the universe.
Therefore, for me science is the true study of God.
I know a lot of atheists are horrified when I say that.
But if you think of religions and mythology, they originated as people attempted to do precisely what scientists do: study and understand the natural world around them.
I have only really come to appreciate science now that I am older. And I don't know much about it but I find what I am learning to be amazing.
Gardening and needing to understand how soil, water, seed, weather, sun, all of these things work together to permit things to grow, is what caused me to have such an appreciation for science.
And of course as I started to put seeds in the ground and to observe how they respond to the environment around them, the system in which they fail or thrive, I began to be interested in insects, birds, other animals, and now I try to learn what I can.
The reason people are afraid of science is that they were forced to "learn" it as opposed to explore it.
