Fox News anchor Martha MaCcallum tried to argue that if we did not have to send out Medicare and Social Security checks each month we would not have to borrow as much money to fund wars. Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

1. I would like to say that I am shocked but I am not.
Must support that military industrial complex.

This has been my perception of the republicans and all their talking heads all along, they will do what ever it takes to keep a perpetual war going for there is no reason to build bombs if you are not going to use them.

3. The US military budget is an obscene and a disproportionate amount of our debt load
708 Billion dollars this year alone. This is unsustainable. Who are we kidding besides ourselves?

Bingo!

And who are our organized enemies?

What country is attacking us?

We don't have a Dept of Defense. We have a Dept of Offense. We go out and seek conflict.

And didn't they steal... er... borrow a bunch of money from SS already to finance the wars? When are they gonna put that back?

And of course she's including corporate welfare checks in her calculations, right? Right?

7. "If we hadn't overextended ourselves..."
"by sending out 80 million SS checks a month, we wouldn't be in this position." Or something to that effect.

Don't you love the way that Faux steers the gullible away from accidentally figuring things out as they go through the day? The key word here is "overextended." Faux viewers will now be conditioned to react angrily, not to war, but to Social Security, when they hear the word "overextended."

At least it was funny.

8. Guns Versus Butter
.

Fox. Do you expected otherwise?

You can bet Fox is selling USA Treasury Notes short through hedge-fund managers.

9. that is SICK
as in the old school sick....diseased....rotten.

I wonder if she even knows what she's saying anymore. There was a Jon Stewart bit about how many times the Hitler comparison was made daily on FOX News. This was just after the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords and there was some talk of toning down rhetoric on TV news shows. A guest on her show pointed this out to her and she flipped out about that it NEVER happens on FOX News. Then Stewart shows a clip from, I think, the previous week ON HER SHOW, where the comparison was made.

She is scary because she is a "true believer" who follows orders and cannot even fathom that she is being used for nefarious purposes. If you accused her of saying that she advocated war over paying SS checks she would flip out again! even though she just said it! That is the danger of FOX News. They recruit people that can fool themselves into an alternate reality where every absurd GOP talking point is the gospel and believe they are leading a crusade against all kinds of dire threats attacking their country and their god.

Frightening
