Megachurch pastor Rick Warren created controversy with his tweet arguing that that the rich pay too much in taxes compared to the poor. Do most Christians think Jesus/God/The Bible is in favor of the rich? Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian discuss.

6. Warren is doing the GOP's bidding. I have been posting and
people are free to ignore. Have you noticed a drumbeat
of "40% of people do not pay taxes. sometimes it is 50%
who do not pay taxes."

Have you noticed a sudden "Tax reform which includes BROADENING
the TAX BASE".

Republicans have an agenda and keep several balls in the
air at once. They are conditioning the people to a change
that is coming (they hope, at least it is on their agenda.)
Religious Leaders help them along. It does not seem so
bad if your Minister approves.

Connect the dots. When tax reform comes up in Congress,
look for a move to increase the number of taxpayers by
moving down the economic ladder.

It is true that a huge number of people do not pay INCOME
TAXES. (They do pay Payroll taxes, SS, Medicare etc)
They have been exempted up to now because they are low
income earners.

It is good to keep up with what is going on. Be prepared.

15. Thanks for mentioning this. I have been
hearing the same thing about the 50%, particularly recently. In fact in a very heated Facebook discussion with a high school friend who grew up to be very conservative, I got this line, "don't even think about taxing the job creators until everyone pays their fair share and right now 50% don't pay anything at all." I gather that these 50% are the 2011 version of Reagan's comic book super villain, WelfareQueen who speeds around in her Cadillac.

You are dead right. I was wondering what the next attack is going to be. You called it. What is so frustrating is that even as we see the train coming, we can also see how the middle-class, working class, and the poor are going to get their ass kicked and the President will declare how it was bipartisan compromise and a victory for America.

16. Ah, but lies have a way of engulfing your brain without you even knowing.
No one in this country except the idle rich and corporation pay NO taxes. The poor pay taxes and NOT just sales taxes and property taxes. They pay Social Security and Medicare on every single dime they make. The rich on the other hand, only pay on the 1st $109,000.

Don't buy the lie. The working poor pay more taxes than GE, Goldman Sucks and most hedge fund managers.

And guess what? We just got a tax increase out of this great capitulation on the debt ceiling. Yes, we all get to pay another 2% on our earned wages because the payroll tax holiday will expire. So when the unconstitutional Super Congress votes to gut Social Security and Medicare, you can rest assured we have all fully paid for the benefits they will take away.

Fight back, don't sit on the sidelines and throw spitballs. They can only rule us if we let them:

"I will commit to being in Freedom Plaza in Washington, D.C., with others on that day or the days immediately following, for as long as I can, with the intention of making it our Tahrir Square, Cairo, our Madison, Wisconsin, where we will NONVIOLENTLY resist the corporate machine by occupying Freedom Plaza to demand that America's resources be invested in human needs and environmental protection instead of war and exploitation. We can do this together. We will be the beginning."

11. Rick needs to read his Bible...
Edited on Mon Aug-01-11 10:08 PM by RowdyRacer
The 5th chapter of the book of Acts clearly shows that Jesus was a communist, and intended for his followers to be the same. All of the "believers" gave their property to to the church when they joined, to be shared by all. This was not optional, as evidenced by what happened to Ananias and his wife. When Peter discovered that they did not give ALL of the money from selling their property to the church, God killed both of them.
Explain that shit, Rick.

17. Rick Warren is a surrender monkey....
he got a little heat for his tweet and ran crying like a baby. If he believed what he said he should have stood by it even as batshitinsane as it was. If he didn't believe it he should have never said it.
