The consequences of this corporate takeover are clear. Thanks to lobbying cash used to defeat regulations - we suffered from the BP oil spill last year. And we were swamped by the Wall Street financial crisis in 2008. And we drown in an endless stream of health insurance abuses year in and year out that have kicked more than 53 million Americans out of the US healthcare system. Corporations - with their Supreme Court-given powers of personhood - are devouring our nation - and making mountains of money in the process. And as our Declaration of Independence instructs - when an institution's behavior, "becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it...as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness." It's time to listen to Jefferson and abolish the institution of corporate personhood. Tell your legislators - move to amend the Constitution now!

1. K&R. I really wish this could happen.

It is hard to believe what has happened-- that multinational corporations have been granted the free speech rights of US citizens.

And we see a ton of corporate cash pouring into Wisconsin at the last minute to try and crush the recalls.

4. Corps are not human.

It just seems bizarre that we require a constitutional amendment just to explain the obvious, that corps are not people. How broken is it that this is even a question? This would certainly be a step in the direction of taking back our country.

And Ginsburg warned about giving foreign governments too much power over our own with the Citizens' United ruling.

But she was overruled by the Republican judicial activists appointed to our Supreme Court.

3. I visualize the $1 mil donation this way - photo shop anyone? The voting booth

is seen behind a rich looking theater type curtain. A rich maroon. The Judges who voted for the concept of a corporate person are holding the curtains open for the this wealthy looking corporate-person to enter and vote. The one who wrote the paper for the decision acts as butler for the top hat and cane.

An alternative scene would be a precinct for the rich at a country club with the corporate-person wearing a golf hat and carrying a putter. The other judges form a little reception line and shake the corporate-person hand while the Judge who wrote the paper reaches out to take the hat and putter just as a caddy would.
