1. I think he's both right and wrong.

I believe that it's true that there is a divide, but I think it's both simpler and more complex.

The prairie provinces in Canada do tend to be more conservative, but a lot of that has to do with resources that they produce with much pollution and the thought that, in a depression, the "eastern bankers" will take everything away, the way they did the last time. (of course, the conservatives are eastern bankers, but never mind.)

I firmly believe that the divide between the more socialist and the less socialist starts to disappear once you leave the rarified circles. The way that folks are convinced to vote against their own interests is by being misinformed on the topics!
