1. I think he was just rooting for a sane looking Republican.
Unfortunately there are no sane Republicans running for the nomination. Romney and Pawlenty are the only ones that try to look sane though. I don't think Romney is going much farther even though he is the only one that polls as doing well against Obama.

7. He wasn't rooting for Pawlenty. He was just trying to guess who the Repuke nominee would be.
O'Donnell is a Socialist.

3. No mistakes are allowed by any liberal? - A mistake, dump 'em- that'll make the republicans point
Edited on Mon Aug-15-11 02:49 PM by GreenTea
that "liberals (or "progressives" for people who are so afraid of the word "LIBERAL" and terrified of being called one) just don't support liberal radio or television". As the pigman (Limbaugh) and others have pounded down everyones throats especially the gullible mainstream media.

O'Donnell Maddow, Malloy, Olbermann, Schultz, can makes dozens of excellent points and offer great insightful stories every night. - But then make a mistake or two and people are ready dump them and turn them off forever?

Bill Maher pisses me off all the time mostly for being so uninformed on a particular issue, however, I certainly don't just drop him like a hot potato as you have....I know Maher is a liberal, I know his heart is in the right place and more often than not he kick-ass republican ass and he sparkles.....Fickle is too kind of word for these people - disgusting is more how I see it - everyone makes mistakes now and then, even you and everyone including you will continue to make mistakes again & again.....So just abandon those who make mistakes or say occasionally something stupid?

13. I took that as tongue-in-cheek. Lawrence tends to have a biting sense of humor, much like
Colbert actually. Maybe if you watched, or read through some of the comments at that mediate site I posted, you might see the humor.

15. Hang on! Are you dissing O'Donnell for his dissing of Colbert?
You do realise that O'Donnell is taking the p*ss out of Colbert? He is throwing the same satire back at Colbert, and in doing so is actually reinforcing Colbert's message of the stupidity and nefariousness of SuperPACs.

He is not really attacking Colbert. It's a gag.

4. Santorum is not a "reasonable choice" for anything, let along VP.

8. That made me throw up in my mouth a little bit. Using Santorum and VP in the same sentence.

6. I think O'Donnell is an it-getter
It is just my impression but I thought that Lawrence was doing the Rewrite the way he would if he didn't know Colbert was a satirist (which of course he does). He read Colbert's entire press release and showed the ads more than once. He then went on to talk about the danger of Super PACs which is kind of what I thought (I could be wrong) Stephen was trying to demonstrate. The laws surrounding the donation and use of Super PAC money are absurd and Stephen is making use of his Super PAC money in an absurd, if highly entertaining, way.

(Super PACs are a new breed created after several 2010 Supreme Court decisions that struck down some restrictions. They’re “super” because there is no limit to how much money they can receive from an individual, corporation, or union. They’re limited in that they can’t give money directly to candidates to help in elections. However, they can spend unlimited amounts advocating for or against political candidates on their own.)

Edited on Mon Aug-15-11 03:52 PM by ooglymoogly
Think of all those folks out there who, just like Lawrence, do not 'get' Colbert and believing this crap.

So Lawrence does not have that luxury. He can't just say "I didn't know the gun was loaded".

Exactly!!! Of course Lawrence knows Colbert's act. Actually,
O'Donnell was praising Stephen for exposing the corruption of
Super PAC's in campaigns. BTW, Lawrence has been on Stephen's
show and regularly plays clips of the Colbert Report on his
show!!
