1. I wish they would ask him what the fuck did he mean?
Does he believe in science or not?

4. Roman Inquisition of 1615
Edited on Thu Sep-08-11 04:30 AM by JJW
No one expects the Roman Inquisition. Galileo was tried by the Inquisition, found "vehemently suspect of heresy", forced to recant, and spent the rest of his life under house arrest.

So what Perry should have learned is that religion should play no role in science. And that brings us to Gov Perry being a global warming denier, while Texas, the State he governs, is burning up. Gov Perry's soultion? Ask Texans to pray for rain.

6. Perry is "vehemently suspect of teh stoopid"
Probably won't hurt his chances, though.

8. Right after which, the state burst into flames...
To be sure, I'm all for aiding the people suffering in TX and across the nation, but this tells me something about Perry, and he'd be about the last person I'd ask for help in getting in touch w/the divine.

5. What?????
Never ceases to amaze me just how nonsensical Republicans can be, yet no one calls them on it. Romney was rambling on about putting quarters in phones and smart phones. Have no clue what his point was. It had something to do with Obama, but made absolutely no sense.

7. Don't try to figure it out because he is an idiot.
The fact is that Galileo and science were proven correct just like the Climate Change Theory and science will be proven correct.

10. Huh?
Yes, Galileo was outvoted, but Galileo was right. Just like today's scientists are right. But far be it from the people Rick Perry panders to to either understand that logic or care.

When you look at the wildfires in Texas, keep in mind that Rick Perry and the Republicans drastically cut funding for the Texas Forest Service just a few months ago. I live in the Austin area very close to the now contained Spicewood fire. Monday we prepared to evacuate because a big fire came within a couple miles of our neighborhood. So please don't be using the fires to bash Texas and Texans. There are now thousands of people homeless who have lost everything, including pets that were in the homes that burned. Those people suffering didn't all vote for Rick Perry nor his compadres I assure you. Even those that did do not deserve to have their pets and property destroyed and their families left homeless.

11. Is he equating climate deniers with Galileo?
Edited on Mon Sep-19-11 03:30 PM by WhoIsNumberNone
There's one important difference, Dick: Galileo was "outvoted" by the Church, not 99% of his fellow scientists. And it took them over 350 years -almost a quarter century after men had walked on the moon- to admit they were wrong. I doubt Galileo would appreciate you name-dropping him, Dick.
