1. What that citizen did takes real courage.
He stayed calm and on topic, something I'm not sure I could have done.

At least Bush had the common courtesy to allow him to continue speaking. There's a lot of Republicans nowadays who would not have done that.

GREAT clip!

2. The speaker's resemblance to this famous Norman Rockwell painting was noted at the time:

One of Norman Rockwell's most famous serious of paintings, "The Four Freedoms", he strongly resembled the painting "Freedom of Speech".

Which was apt, IMO.

K&R for a very nice blast from the past!

based on the constitution. He has a scandal as bad as Murdoch's. It's just that we will never see justice take place.

5. I saw this in 2006...
Edited on Sat Sep-10-11 06:04 AM by Stuart G
It was the only time that anyone publically did this.
If I recall, Bush allowed the person to speak, He said, "Let him speak."

as if he were some sort of person who listened to criticism.
After the critic talked, Bush responded in a way that produced a laugh and then he put the guy down.

bush was a real asshole.....
the whole thing may have been a set up..
.Bush's responce was the key to the moment, not the criticism..

Nevertheless, it was the only time ...I ever saw Bush publically criticized by a citizen for anything.

It was some kind of town meeting before the 2006 election..

it is about the best anyone ever did to his face and that includes the press.

No wonder he demanded to sit on Cheney's lap at the 9/11 commission interview.
