1. One of my favorite songs of all times.
I think it's misused here.

If you are going to use it in connection with 9/11, it should be to point out the use of 9/11 to silence dissent under GWB, which allowed all of the atrocities we've committed and suffered since.

3. Sometimes...something that touches your heart is nothing more than that.
It doesn't always have to be so deep.

9. True.
But, apparently my heart is touched differently, by different things, than some.

11. MSNBC caption read Paul Simon sings 'Bridge Over Troubled Waters.'
I wonder if he switched songs.

I thought the song spoke beautifully to the concerns of the so-called 'Jersey girls' and others who have a moral authority many do not.

25. Everyone sees the world through their own eyes, but most never see what's there...
That being said, in my opinion, there could not have been a more perfect song for the occasion.

911 was in the making for decades, and some people have properly argued beforehand, that it was in the making for centuries, or that it was history repeating itself.
It's cause and affect. If you keep going around the world and beating up on people, eventually someones going to hit you back.

When governments commit crimes against humanity, most citizens remain willfully blind and silent, as long as these crimes don't affect them. And yes, they hear about it, they see it,
and songs are even wrote about it. But it's natural for people to self censer the painful truth; they don't want to talk about it; they don't want to disturb the silence.

Sadly, silence does grow like a cancer, and 911 was that silence coming home to roost. And yes, the righting was on the wall.

And yes, the government is in the business of sweeping what ever it can under the rug when ever it can get away with it, it refuses to prosecute wealthy criminals, and corrupt government officials continue their crimes against humanity in the name of fictitious noble causes. And they ask us to be silent, and politicians know, most people will listen to what their government tells them, and most people don't want to disturb the silence.

4. Beautifully done ....
Am I the only DUer who actually thinks a certain extremist segment of a particular sect, in this case, lashed out in religious hatred against innocent people in the World Trade Center ?

The transgressions of the Bush Administration, as well as previous and successive administrations, are separate events that neither promote nor mitigate what happened at the WTC .... It is fallacious to demand that nobody grieve this awful event, or that nobody apportion blame to whose who carried it out, because they dislike the acts of one or another US administration ...

Nearly 3000 innocent people were killed .... what happened afterward does not absolve those who committed this heinous act of depravity .... We are EACH of us responsible for our behaviour, based on our actions .... There is no legitimate philosophical justification for committing this act .... None whatsoever ....

I just wish that Paul's bigest fan wasn't Paul. His treatment of Art is unforgivable. Having said that...he is a truly a great songwriter.
