Not much of a Ron Paul advocate
However... I do think such a candidate is important to have with the opposition

It's sad, our boy Noam is looking older
Still a stellar memory though

15. 900 bases mostly true
During the Sept. 12, 2011, Republican presidential debate in Tampa, Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas -- a staunch advocate of limited government and a more modest military footprint -- offered a surprising statistic about the reach of the U.S. armed forces.

"We're under great threat, because we occupy so many countries," Paul said. "We're in 130 countries. We have 900 bases around the world. We're going broke. The purpose of al-Qaida was to attack us, invite us over there, where they can target us. And they have been doing it. They have more attacks against us and the American interests per month than occurred in all the years before 9/11, but we're there occupying their land. And if we think that we can do that and not have retaliation, we're kidding ourselves. We have to be honest with ourselves. What would we do if another country, say, China, did to us what we do to all those countries over there?"

That statement includes a lot of different claims, but we’re going to focus on just one of them here that a reader asked us to check -- that the U.S. military "is in 130 countries. We have 900 bases around the world."

We’ll split this into two parts -- checking whether the U.S. military has personnel in 130 countries, and whether the U.S. has 900 overseas military bases.

3. We need these voices
Unfortunately Noam Chomsky is never on the MSM. So Ron Paul is the best one out there telling this undeniable truth about why we were attacked on 9-11.

Here, Madeleine Albright defends the mass-murder of Iraqi children (500,000 Children dead: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4PgpbQfxgo

I can't imagine the outcry in the US if that were said about members of her religion. This interview was widely seen throughout the ME.

4. The look on that shit-ass santorum's mug says it all.
It's like those bastards live in another universe. Paul usually gets his facts right, but usually draws the wrong conclusions.

Paul is spot on here. Chomsky is his usual self - just carefully stating the truth. The audience and Santorum are obviously far beyond help.

Santorum's expression is really interesting actually - it is like he knows that Paul has stepped outside the bounds of "acceptable propaganda" which means he realizes it is "propaganda". I wonder if Santorum is one of those who is trying to play propaganda and is smart enough to realize it or not? He's a religious nut case so maybe not. I would never be able to watch Santorum actually talk long enough to figure him out (and it wouldn't take much). He revolts me so I can not listen to the man.

7. Geez. Ron "Ferengi" Paul is absolutely right.
It's mind blowing how deeply correct he is about this. Yet how wrong he is about 90% of the rest of his philosophy.

I find this "correctness" to be one of the biggest problems Dems face in the next election. Many people who vote Dem are going to be fooled by this facet of Paul.

8. I always rejected the ridiculous notion that they were just so
jealous of our lifestyles and our goodness and freedom. That sounded like BS without anything to counter it with.

9. Yes. The claim that, "They hate us for our freedoms."
is ridiculous. Sort of on par with, "We have to fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here."

Exactly how stupid do people have to be to cling to these faulty notions?

at Tora Bora, roll-up his global support network, and arrest those in the U.S. who allowed 9/11 to happen and who exploited it for their own political and economic gain. The world would have cheered America if we had done the right thing -- treated this as a law enforcement matter, exposed what really happened in open court -- imposed real justice.

We didn't do that. So, we're still "at war" in a twilight struggle against a noun we can never win, making more martyrs and another generation of enemies, further weakening and isolating ourselves to enrich energy cartels and arms manufacturers, turning our country into a police state, and destroying our own moral credibility.

11. 5 Reasons Progressives Should Treat Ron Paul with Extreme Caution -- 'Cuddly' Libertarian Has Some
Very Dark Politics

"Ron Paul is the anti-Civil-Rights-Act Republican. He's an anti-reproductive-rights Republican. He's a gay-demonizing Republican. He's an anti-public education Republican and an anti-Social Security Republican. He's the John Birch Society's favorite congressman. And he's a booster of the Constitution Party, which has a Christian Reconstructionist platform. So, if you're a member of the anti-woman, anti-gay, anti-black, anti-senior-citizen, anti-equality, anti-education, pro-communist-witch-hunt wing of the progressive movement, I can see how he'd be your guy."

12. What is said in the article is very true, there is no-doubt who Ron Paul is
To get things done, one must find common ground then work out the differences. If Ron Paul is about not pissing-off the world with our military, then agree with him and support him on that task. We need some areas of agreement to move forward in this country.
