First, it was Ann Coulter. Then it was Ann Coulter, again.

Now Bill O'Reilly—that right-wing chatter box known for his fair and balanced analysis—is scrambling to join Coulter on the "let's bash John Edwards" bandwagon.

On Wednesday night, during one of his diatribes, O'Reilly claimed, "Osama bin Laden has a John Edwards bumper sticker on his cave wall." Whenever he has nothing of substance to say, O'Reilly falls back on that tired Republican tactic of trying to link Democrats with terrorists. As usual, the foaming, frothing pundits of the right wing have no interest in John's substantive policies to fight global terrorism. They choose to ignore that John Edwards has put out the boldest plan of any candidate to root out and shut down terrorists, through the creation of a new multilateral organization, the Counterterrorism and Intelligence Treaty Organization (CITO) while refusing to apologize for respecting America's fundamental values.

What O'Reilly and Coulter do see is that John Edwards is the strongest candidate for president—and that's why they deliberately ignore the substance of his policies and spend their time attacking him personally.

Schooled in the trash and burn tactics of Karl Rove, they have no sense of decency and exhibit no shame. Instead, they believe it is possible to twist the truth and distract voters from the issues that really matter.
