"Last week, when Wolf Blitzer and CNN had that debate -- the CNN/Tea Party Express debate -- and Wolf stood there and called them his partners, I just thought, 'This is amazing, isn't it?' Because would you ever see the CNN/Nurses Union debate or the CNN/Teachers Union debate? 'Cause I think there's a few more teachers and nurses in this country than there are members of the Tea Party but we'll never see that in the mainstream media. And liberal organizations which have many more members just don't get the attention. 1,000 people arrested in front of the White House a couple of weeks ago on the tar sands environmental issue. Hardly any coverage of this. Can you imagine if 1,000 Tea Party members had been arrested in front of the White House? It would be the top of every news story. People are down on Wall Street right now holding a sit-in and a camp-in down there -- virtually no news about this protest. This goes on with liberals and the left all the time and it gets ignored -- and, fortunately, there's shows like yours and others who aren't ignoring it -- but it doesn't mean it isn't happening and it will continue to happen." -- Michael Moore, Rachel Maddow Show, Monday, September 19, 2011

3. Is it just me or the times we live in? I think Michael makes more sense
now then ever before.

I always respected him, liked his films and books. I know some people here think he's not the best guy in the world.

But now, more than ever, when he shows up on my TV machine, he makes more sense and is closer to how I'm thinking than he used to be.

Anyone else feel the same?

13. Don't think
It's just you.I expect time and experience have led him to temper his statements more lately. Not his views, but the way he expresses them outside his documentaries. There's something to be said for diplomacy. You can be in your face expressive, but it can be done in a kinder, gentler manner. Who knows maybe he's learning from watching the baggers/republicans coalition verbally step on their individual and collective johnsons quite frequently.

6. unless your views fall on the right they do not exist,. .
So we have a Right Wing media in a centre left country,. and the debate is always from that right wing perspective. Any actions or comments by the actual left are not even considered, and the views of a few become the 'debate',. a range of opinions that range from way far right to right of center. Wow what a system, a one sided debate in a single party political system,. what changed when we went from GOP to DNC ? Real substantive change = zero. Same people in charge of the banking system,. former bankers?

familes and corporations which gave us Hitler/Nazis --

Here's my take on it -- if they're ignorning you -- I'd ignore them!

:hi:

PS: If this was even so much as a "centrist" nation -- they'd be no need for the

24/7 RW propagand a which the corporate-press is -- !!

America is radically liberal on just about every issue -- beginning with 80% of the

public wanting the wars shut down --

74% and more -- and 83% of Catholics -- want government-run health care -- MEDICARE4ALL --

including coverage for all reproductive issues -- sex education -- abortion.

94% of Americans want a government system like Sweden's!

On and on -- don't know where you got the idea of "centrist" America -- not true!

14. Almost finished with his new book
Let me tell you, I respect Michael Moore even more every single day and reading his book has made me feel like he's an older brother of mine. I love that guy. He speaks for me and he called Maddow a national treasure before and I, so agree. She just let him talk last night and it was great to see him included in two segments of her show. Thanks Rachel.

His book has had me laughing my ass off and crying my eyes out. I never imagined that his story telling could move me like that. I think some of his proceeds go to a charity too which helped me buy the book.

I think I'll write my name in the front of this one for my collection and will never lend it out. I'll just go buy another one and give it to whoever I recommend read it.

15. MSM will have NOTHING to do with anybody, anywhere who is considered "left:"
And they WILL pigeon-hole anyone who goes any further "to the other side" than Krugman. And even he will soon join the ranks of Moore and Chomsky as "leftist cranks."

On a similar note, I keep hearing on NPR the delineation between the GOP's "base" (far-right spittle-flying ideologies) and the Democratic "left" (anyone from Carter over). Seems as if they have accepted the parameters.

"The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater."

20. If you possibly can, cancel your cable.
And then write the cable company and let them know you canceled because of the right-wing bias of the MSM.

That is a more effective way to protest than to go to Wall Street where to be ignored.

23. I'm thinking that we should do something to call out CNN and Faux News...
Remember (all you hipsters) the little stickers you could get through organizations like PETA? I actually remember this. I took stickers that called out the animal testing and cruelty and would under stealth operations, put them on products as I went down the grocery store isles.

Well, I think we ought to do something along those same lines to any television parked on CNN and FOX. Of course, they'd be peeled off, but not before the message was sent.

Now, what could that message be?

How about, "WARNING: WATCHING FOX NEWS CAN BE LOWER YOUR IQ"

Also, I'd Love something where Limbaugh was heard being pasted over the store window... "Warning: Limbaugh affects the Limbic System of the Brain until all you want is Oxy-Contin!"

26. Mike
Been a fan since Roger and Me in the late 80's.

Mike had two prime time shows in the 90's - TV Nation and some other one. One was on Fox! and the other on NBC. They were excellent and totally Mike.

He also made a precious and charming movie called "Canadian Bacon". It was Mike's sweet good natured humor once again and had Dan Ackroyd and I think John Candy in it.

Mike speaks for me.

30. Please tell me why anyone would be watching MSM garbage .... ????
Edited on Tue Sep-20-11 08:19 PM by defendandprotect
It strikes me as very peculiar that so many here will repeatedly tell us how

ridiculous the corporate-press is -- how right wing it is and how they lie --

and yet still watch it!

It's as though they KNOW they lie -- but only about some things -- and when it

comes to things like 9/11 .... they tell the truth?

Bush/Cheney couldn't have pulled off 9/11 without the cooperation of a large

part of the corporate-press -- nor could the cover up continue without them!

What viewers have to understand is that our corporate-press is controlled by the

same families and corporations which gave us Hitler/Nazis -- !!!

PS: Al Gore has just confirmed this summer for anyone interested that ...

"Congress is under the control of the oil and coal industries" -- See: Rolling Stone

Has the corporate-press ever told you that -- or do you think they just don't know it?

Or maybe they think viewers aren't interested in that information?

Think Obama and most of our elected Democrats know it -- ?

Have they ever bothered to tell us -- or do they think we're not entitled to know it?
