1. Carlson Was Completely Out Of Control... |
|
He apparently has attention deficit disorder of the faculty of logic. He is unable to continue a line of thought or argument and jumps compulsively between strawmen and red herrings while constantly interrupting copanelists and muttering incoherently.
He should be sent to the Ann Coulter Home for the politically insane...

From the moment the other panelist started talking about Europe and Iran Carlson starts trying to take them off the subject. He also did something a number of Republican have done. He tried to turn everything on the Democrats. Maher bring up Europe and Iran and being to point out that Iran will not attack Europe. Instead of talking about that Carlson tries to say liberal are constantly saying the Bush Administration is going to attack Iran. However, no one on that panel had said anything about Bush wanting to attack Iran until Carlson brought it up. The same thing is done by a number of other Republicans. They try to say the Democrats are doing something or have done something when it is actually the Republicans who are doing the thing or have done the thing. Democrats should call that out more often.

3. I wonder why Bill had that idiot Tucker on there, he is such an ass. |
|
I don't think Krugman was very impressed with him.
I have his show recorded & saved so will watch the whole thing but your clip shows Tucker in his usual asine form.

panel, he's got plenty of smart, reasonable liberals or progressives from which to pick but not much from the other side.
When looking for that RW balance, he can only turn to an ever dwindling handful of people who are willing to publicly parrot RW talking points which, at this point in time, requires one to be delusional and/or whorishly shilling.
There is no rationale or reason to the current, or past, Republican policies, so anyone who purports to be a conservative is unable to rely on any kind of salient facts to support their position.
Thus, the shouting, the straw man arguments, the name calling, etc.

4. THE line imo "the idea that the people thinking BushCo is up to no good |
|
are crazy, even after all these years of being right". That was it, THE best thing Krugman could have replied to this bullshit babbling by Carlson ("no, I am actually not naive", oh my ).
Carlson is no older than 14 in his head.

many a fourteen year old who was more articulate, knowledgeable and intelligent than Carlson. In fact, I was discussing politics with some of my 12 year old students who made more sense than Tucker does. Rather than give real, knowledgeable, thought out comments, he makes up for it by being just loud and whiny.

8. He seems to have learned at the knee of Ann Coulter and other RW |

blowhards.
A.) speak louder than everyone else
B.) employ strawman and red herring arguments
C.) when that fails, change the topic
D.) when all else fails; hurl childish insults at those who don't agree with you
E.) Remember; it is NOT a discussion, it's an opportunity for a monologue. Say something often enough and the weak minded will accept it as fact. So keep yelling over everyone else until you run out the clock!

I think you are directly quoting out of the Republican "playbook." I'm sure they have sent out reading material that outlines the very thing you have said to Republicans across the country. I'd bet my big toe on that! ;-)

9. Thanks for your welcome on the other thread! I've been lurking a long time... |
|
...it's the past weeks that I actually starting posting a lot more.
Let me tell you where that 14-year-old comment comes from : 8 years ago, I spent an exchange high school year in the US. My host family had a "Parking for Republicans only" sign ( lol, how funny ) in their garage, I knew what was up the first time I saw it. And it was worse : "Clinton is an idiot, a liar, a disgrace", "The UN should be abolished", all that crap, and what sticks in my mind forever : "GWB, oh he would be a wonderful president!", that was '98/'99... And they had a son who was THE smartass about everything. Couldn't know what he was talking about but that didn't stop him, and he was 14 at the time. So that's why I think "14-year old idiot teenager" when I see someone spout bs like he/she knows.
And these Tucker-types always worry me because I always gotta think "I wonder how many believe that ( because won't think for themselves but instead believe what they hear first/loudest )"
PS : I know there are smart teenagers around ( after all, I was one :eyes: )... :hi:

11. Tucker: "the military aren't going to protect you." |
|
Hey, that's great. I guess that means that my cousin who is scheduled to go back to Iraq for his second tour in a few weeks can stay home now. I loathe Tucker Carlson - and actually I don't have words that really express my utter disgust at him and his cowardly, pompous, self-righteous ilk.
