Lengthy 20 min phone call (would have been shorter if the police had done his job). In short a political activist fears for his life because he is being surveilled by the same van after his friend had been murdered. He was attacked by the owner of the van who seems to be a cop. About 12:55 into the call the cop on the phone makes a "joke" about wanting to murder him too.

1. He needs to be reported. You have evidence of the call.

I would send this recording to your Mayor, Governor, Attorney General and head officials---add the FBI.

2. Who is this guy? Is he legit? If this guy is telling the truth about his friend being killed and..

...the rest? Because if those allegations are true...in conjunction with the recorded conversation, that's pretty terrible. I have no idea why any taxpayer should be paying the fucker on the other end of the telephone call that was recorded.

"He shoulda choked everything outta your throat."

Threat's against a person's life: "Exactly, it's just some talk, that's all."

Man...

It's 20 minutes long and I don't think a lot of people will watch this video, but that's too bad because they should. Regardless of who the guy is who recorded this, the officer's commentary and suggestions on the other end of the line are outrageous.

4. It sounds to me like you have more than...

...sufficient grounds for a lawsuit. I understand a person's resistance to filing litigation hoping to receive fair treatment from the NYPD, but it does not a appear that's going to happen.

I'd sue the officer who assaulted me, and the NYPD naming him as the respondent.

Try to get a written statement from your witness.

The conduct you describe on the part of the officer (person in the van) is both outrageous and highly illegal.

Good luck with this matter, I hope you get some satisfaction.
