Independent Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont appeared on Countdown with Keith Olbermann on Thursday night to discuss the ongoing “Occupy Wall Street” protests.

“What I appreciate about what is going on in New York right now is there is a spotlight being focused on Wall Street, we desperately need that,” he said. “If we’re going to get out of this recession, we’re going to create the millions of jobs that we desperately need, we need real Wall Street reform.”

“Focusing attention on Wall Street is exactly the right thing to do,” Sanders added.

To say Bernie Sanders is a national treasure somehow sounds trite and overused, but it is true nevertheless. He MUST be re-elected.

2. Bernie is a treasure. Why is there only one of him?

I don't think though, that Keith is right to call this movement 'left'. It is, if anything, like Bernie, Independent. And it would limit the support it needs across the political spectrum to put any labels on it. It is about the American people and if they can come together for once on an issue that polls show they ARE together on, it will become a huge movement.

Bernie is correct that focusing on Wall St. is the correct thing to do. It is center of the corruption that brought down the world's economies and is in desperate need of reform.
