4. Basically
"we" developed the technology and strategies (then why didn't you use them successfully?) and Obama won't call it a "war on terror" for political reasons.

22. The quote actually falls in line with the complaints of many posters here on DU

Though Cheney points he is in agreement with Obama's foreign policy, The Dick wants an apology for when Obama said there would be change:

"The thing I am waiting for is for the administration to go back and correct something they said two years ago, when they criticized us for quote overreacting to the events of 9/11," Cheney said. "They in effect said we had walked away from our ideals, taking policy contrary to our ideals when we had enhanced interrogation techniques. They have clearly moved in the direction of taking robust action when they feel it is justified. In this case, it was. They need to go back and reconsider what the president said in Cairo."

The former vice president was referencing the speech Obama delivered in Cairo in 2009, in which he said the the trauma of 9/11 caused American to "act contrary to our ideals" and announced that "I have unequivocally prohibited the use of torture by the United States" and ordered Guantanamo Bay to be closed.

Cheney took issue with Obama's speech on Sunday. "We were never torturing anyone in the first place," he told CNN's Candy Crowley. "He said we walked away from our basic fundamental ideals. That simply wasn't the case. What he said then was inaccurate especially now in light of what they are doing with policy."

"He slandered the nation," Liz Cheney added, "and I think he owes an apology to the American people. Those are the policies that kept us safe."

6. Just Darth Cheney attempting to re-write history
For the record, the Bush administration actually admitted to using torture techniques in 2008 and, as Bush’s Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld noted, those techniques did not lead to the location of Osama bin Laden.

12. Another "hunting accident?"
It's important to remember Richard Cheney is accustomed to getting apologies from people he shoots.

"Sorry my face was in the way of your shot from the backseat of the limousine, Mr. Vice President. Please accept my humble apologies for acting the part of a clay pigeon," said 78 year-old Harry Whittington, his voice muffled by the bandages. "Can I get another tylenol now?"

For the Secret Service folks doing due diligence reading this board, the above was an ironic jest based on the bizarre behavior of Dick Cheney and his "friends", and not in any way intended as a threat to anyone.

I know we at DU very much appreciate you ladies and gentlemen protecting our 44th president and his vice with the same vigor and diligence exercised to protect the 43rd and his vice, which I'll admit, we didn't like nearly as much.

14. Uh huh.
Dick Cheney is the type who'd hit you with his car, then demand an apology for the blood on his fender.

Hey, he got an apology from the guy he shot in the face. Why are we surprised at this latest?

23. It brings to question...

Do evil people ever realized the depth of what they have done or that they are evil? I'm sure that if you look at examples in history any evil piece of work they could cook up not only an excuse for what they did, but they could also find a little old lady who's lawn they mowed as a kid to say he's a nice boy. Dick Cheney wants an apology... I'm sure there are the children, spouses, parents and friends who died in Iraq who actually deserve an apology.

And the Obama Administration should have investigated The Evil Administration(R). We wouldn't have this problem if Dick was in prison where he belongs.

27. Why an apology? Did Cheney shoot Obama in the face?
That's what happened with Harry Whittington. After being shot, he said, "My family and I are deeply sorry for all that Vice President Cheney and his family have had to go through this week." Cheney said, "Heh, he shoulda run faster!" Or was that Oswald Danes?
