Cornel West Almost Loses It When O'Reilly Tells Him He Doesn't Lie!

Bill O'Reilly welcomed radio host Tavis Smiley and Prof. Cornel West onto his Tuesday show. The resulting dust-up was nothing short of a cable news classic.

Smiley and West have become a bona fide double act, regularly making the cable news rounds. O'Reilly brought them on to discuss the Occupy Wall Street movement and poverty in America. He set up the conversation by saying that the two were overlooking key statistics in their battle against poverty that showed the problem to be as much one of "personal responsibility" as economic injustice. Then, he turned to West.

"Where am I going wrong?" he asked. West said that his "lens" was wrong, and that he was overlooking the widening economic inequality in America. "The oligarchs and plutocrats that you tend to want to promote rather intensely not only doing well but been too greedy!" he said. "I don't think I'm promoting anybody who's doing untoward things," O'Reilly said. "We're talking about chronic excess!" West responded, causing O'Reilly to try to shut him up. "No filibustering here," O'Reilly snapped.

3. When Bill said addicts are unable to work West/Smiley should have pointed to Beck/Limbaugh
Bill asked "What do we do with those people?". West should have said rehabilitate them and help them on their feet, kinda like what Beck and Limbaugh did. That would have made Bill shat his pants.

9. Love these guys!
That is funny when Billo calls out Belafonte for dissing then calls him a zombie. Irony goes in, irony goes out! Only God knows why!

11. Its bull shit stats.. There is a law in FL that makes poor people on
public help have to take a drug test... Guess what.. only 2% have tested positive. It was supposed to "save" money, in the end the program has cost us a ton of taxpayer money to the Gov's drug testing company on paying back poor people who aren't substance abuse problems. People who are poor, normally don't have enough money to buy drugs. Sure, some people are addicted to something.. But I would wager there are more people who work on Wall St that are using drugs than any poor person. They have the money... they spread it around. I would wager that most of the illegal drugs are used by the upper crust society and suburban kids and college kids.

12. That was pure futility
I hate to say it because I really love Smiley and West - but nothing will get through to O'Really and his audience. Was entertaining though - loved their reaction to "no one on wall street / banks broke any laws"
