We knew what Hitler was doing in the 1930s with fascism and anti-Jewish laws and said/did next to nothing in 1938 when Hitler and Germany began make aggressive moves such as annexing Austria. When the war began we provided some material support to allies but didn't the US didn't enter the war until 1942 after declaring war following the Japanese attack of Pearl Harbor on Dec 7th of 1941. We really didn't intervene until the end.
