It may not seem like a political video. But being a cyclist, and realizing that much of what is troubling us as a society revolves around automobiles (believe it or not), I was so stunned to hear this speech that I simply had to stop what I was doing and sit and listen this morning.

Over the years on DU I've tried to make my statement regarding cycling in this society. It fails to gain much attention. In fact it's perceived as threatening. I guarantee a better world for all who open their ears, eyes, nose, and brains.

Transportation without burning gas and emitting pollutants, good exercise, and a fun end to my work day as I zoom down the path next to the congested highway -- I'm sold.

2. Yay! I had to listen to the speech twice. Absolutely crucial.

I'm off for my forest ride in a few minutes. Nothing like singletrack through the redwoods. And a creek crossing. A very tough ride, but fun. My commuting days are over. But I'll always remember riding in the rain and snow.

It's nearly impossible to get people to even entertain the thought. But we can try.
