By Mike Kepka/The Chronicle - "Occupy Wall Street" began as a specific protest in a specific place. Weeks later, the movement has spread to most major cities in the country and the term "Occupy" has taken on new meaning. No longer confined to camps and marches, Occupy has become a state of mind for Americans who say they are fed up with the economy, with income inequality and corporate influence in politics.

On the day President Obama came to San Francisco for a Fundraiser luncheon at downtown hotel, hundreds of protesters showed for the chance to voice their opinion about needed change. Here are a few of their voices.

3. I am a 99er because the health industry abandoned me when I was sick and dying
and didn't have health insurance and wasn't "poor" enough to qualify for gov't assistance and all churches refused to help. Because the pyramid structure of society is a lie, horizontal is the true way of society to be structured. Because the 1% stole my education, my career, my pension, my vacations. Because I refuse to be a debt slave. Because the 1% are destroying my/our Earth. Because the violence promoted by the 1% is based on wrong thought. Because humanity is good and we must return to our natural state of goodness. Because compassion, empathy, generosity, kindness, honesty are normal human emotions, not having them is a disease. Because i was born here on Earth, like everyone else and we all deserve to share in the resources of this earth.

5. Great Message!
There is much more that unifies us rather than separates us.
