The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur reports from the General Strike in Oakland California. Highlights include protesters successfully shutting down big banks in the area.

3. Great reporting by Cenk...
I think the feeling of Occupy is going to feel different with each place people are living. Conditions are different across the nation and the issues that are happening are often local problems that are part of the bigger picture over all problems.

What will be really interesting will be to see what happens in the South. Its slow to catch on as a force. People identify, but have been kept so down and with so little rights (like the right to work laws) that it has been a slow going process. I think it will eventually catch on as the other occupy locations become larger and larger.

I loved the last picture of the older, white, fat banker guy taking pics of the protestors. Obviously in case of any damage. I know some of the buildings did get damaged... which is unfortunate. This movement at the moment has large support because of the non-violence stand by most of the occupy forces. It would scare people away to see or want to participate in violent actions.

Oakland has had issues with their police force and brutality in general. And after Scott Olsen was hurt, along with others the week before, I'm sure there was some tension in the air as to how the police would respond to larger crowds and shutting down banks and the port.

I do hope to see more strikes occur and on a national level. Shutting the system down will hurt financially and scare the shit out of the 1%.
