Amazing footage!

On Youtube info: "Absolutely enormous crowd hit the street in Oakland in support of Oakland. They took over a highway; there's got to be a good 100,000 people there."

5. I'm shocked
Oh wait... I'm not shocked.

Our various media have ben in the hock for a long time. I think back to the 2003 antiwar protests and how little coverage they gave to them.

Hey Chicago,

We can beat those numbers.
Let's show them what DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE!
In fact, EVERY city in America, should show them what

7. 100000 seems like an overestimate from what the video shows
But that still is a lot of people

8. I've been to OSU's Horseshoe for Football Games;
And I'd say the estimate might be low. OSU stadium holds 100,000 and a quick count of a section of the rally extrapolated gives a high figure. This is in contrast to most Tea Party gatherings where they have to spread out in order to make it appear they have x amount attending instead of x/2 or even x/3.

10. I go to PSU home games with 100,000 +
The crowd isn't packed as tight as we are at Penn State games and the camera panning isn't continuous enough to make a close judgement. I'd guess there's somewhere between 50,000 and 60,000. Lots of people. I did see one Job Johnny at the end but there was no line yet.

12. This will have to be shown to those who thought it was about 7 thousand....
100,000 source ( San Francisco Chronicle): Oakland's Interim Police Chief Howard Jordan (a capable and politically smart leader in a tough position) got the Occupy Oakland General Strike crowd count massively wrong: it's not 7,000, but 100,000. http://blog.sfgate.com/abraham/2011/11/03/occupy-oakland-strike-draws-100000-...

Absolutely enormous crowd hit the street in Oakland in support of Oakland. They took over a highway; there's got to be a good 100,000 people there.

Amazing numbers, and definitely more than the 10,000 originally reported.

His friend, also a veteran, told him about what the people were doing on his behalf. He apparently wrote that they should remain peaceful and was very happy to hear of the support he was getting.

18. If the authorities crack down with violence, THEN people mobilize
MLK understood this, that was part of being a civil rights protestor. You have to get arrested, beaten on TV etc. Then people react.

In Paris during the May uprisings on 1968, the police were cracking the skulls of student protestors, using way too much force than anyone deemed reasonable.

The next week more than 16 million workers went on strike.

The powers that be never seem to get this.

The revolution will not be shown on television. Nothing will be on television... or if anything is, no one will notice.

The revolution will not provide you with political clout, a luxury car or designer antidepressants. It will render such things superfluous.

The revolution will not help your build muscle mass or tone your flabby thighs. It will make it possible for you to feel beautiful in your body, not because of it.

The revolution will not put the right people in control of the government or impose limits on the conduct of corporations. It will abolish control, government, limits, corporations.

The revolution will not give you superhuman powers of creativity, audacity, or conflict resolution. It will push aside the obstacles that inhibit you from exercising the power you already have.

The revolution will not put an end to violence, struggle or interpersonal strife. It will offer you the chance to fight for your own interests, for once, and let the chips fall where they may.

The revolution will not just put all genders, ethnicities, and nationalities on equal footing - it will dissolve the borders that distinguish them.

The revolution will not make you self-sufficient. It will equip you to take care of others, and others to take care of you.

The revolution will not provide you with the man or woman of your dreams. It will bring out the unique beauty of the ones already around you.

The revolution might not always feed or house or heal you, but hunger and thirst and cold and even sickness will trouble you a lot less.

The revolution will not mean you finally get what you deserve. It will give you treasures no one could ever deserve, just as it will sometimes hurt with a pain nothing in your life has warranted.

The revolution will not be simple or clean or easy. It will help you to find meaning in difficult things, to be courageous in facing complexities and contradictions, to get your hands dirty and like it.

The revolution is not going to happen tomorrow -- it's never going to happen. It's taking place right now. It is an alternate universe that runs parallel to this one, waiting for you to switch sides.

They are marching from downtown over for around 5pm. Over the entire day long events, I'm sure that many attended. Not everyone may have marched over. But many, many did.

everyone you know and tell them that this was reported as 7,000 demonstrators.

Education is critical to defeating the entrenched interests.
