2. "my skin just fell off and it wasn't the fault of a Mexican" |
|
LOL... I get perturbed by having to press 1 on a phone for English, and seeing our jobs get shipped to Mexico, Canada, India etc by greedy corporations, but Bill sure puts things in perspective, and I agree - the threat to HUMAN CIVILIZATION sure trumps the other issues. Not to say we can't focus some energy on them (like the job issue, it truly is an important issue), but the environmental changes are truly and catastrophically obvious!
Thanks again for putting this video on..

The great unifier would be all of us focused on global threats but here we are on the bridge of WW III for what? Because some assholes have dreams of world power. And the world they want power over won't even be here long if they get their way. How ironic is that?

4. I've been waiting for someone to say that. |

Damn shame it wasn't a candidate.
TERRORISM IS THE LEAST OF OUR PROBLEMS. STOP SPENDING MONEY ON IT.
I live 32 blocks from Ground Zero and I'm not worried about terrorists.
I'm TERRIFIED of RAIN, WIND, and FIRE. I'm frightened that I will die of thirst or starvation or exposure because we are spending NOTHING on our real problems.

5. Everyone should be afraid of the consequences of Global Warming |
|
I married into an old Forest Ranger family, and my brother-in-law is the head of the leading dendro-chronology lab located at University of Arizona. The family has been talking about global warming and its effects on fire for over a decade, maybe longer, I just joined the family a decade ago. The frequency of fire and the way fires burn today is a direct result of global warming.
Every fire fighter who goes into one of those fires is a hero and very underpaid. Forest fire fighting was always dangerous, but fire has become so unpredictable that the dangers of fires twenty years ago are nothing compared to those today. I'm honestly glad my nephew by marriage has settled down and is no longer fighting fire. He was the third generation of forest fire fighters in his family.
If you happen to see those brave people working the fire, they deserve even more than your applause. They deserve everyone's respect and support.
