I used to live in Germany. Norway is known throughout Europe as being an amazing place to live. For exactly the reasons brought up in this clip.

people mostly have a moral assumption that revenge is the sole purpose of punishment. Consequently most people don't look beyond that in considering what the actual effects of a correction system on the community are.

I wouldn't normally expect that a system as radically lenient as this would be so successful. But if what Michael Moore says in the video is true (big if) then it bears looking into.

Ironically, that "they don't have the blacks there" may not be entirely beside the point. Because in other words, they do not have the legacy of SLAVERY. And people wonder why this country has an endless cycle of violent crime?
