but there's quite a few of us on the left who will be caucusing for Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer (http://www.jackforsenate.org) who really is more progressive than Franken and has had better positions on Iraq and Iran and healthcare.

I wasn't happy that Al quit radio to run for office, as he clearly is more on the spineless side, and Minnesota can do better -- much better!

This is what we need more of! It is a shame that the greed and lack of compassion (Glenn Beck) of the Repubs have kept the Government from having our backs. I just had an Uncle who was a Korean war veteran die because he was too proud to ask us for help and the government was deducting from his $900 a month social security check (his only income) the cost of his prescriptions. He died from malnutrition and cancer because he could not go to a doctor because of the cost. The nearest VA hospital was 100 miles away. The government had his back alright, they had a knife in it!

Bobbolink - SS benefits also accrue to disabled people, and single widows, etc. Is your post a joke? "working families" is how most people in this country see themselves, and is a campaign shorthand. I don't think Al means to leave anyone out in the cold, ya know?
