26 years after his passing we still sing this happy little song.

"Give Peace a Chance", recorded in 1969 at the height of the Vietnam War, marked Lennon's transformation from lovable mop-top to anti-war activist, and began a process that culminated in 1972, when the Nixon Administration sought to silence him by ordering him deported from the US.

Dec. 10, 2006, Human Rights Day, a day America comes together once again to say to the world and the American Leadership, the direction needs to change for Iraq so that we can Give Peace a Chance.

1. I wish my generation cared the way the Vietnam protesters did
I keep telling everybody at my school how our entire system is going to come crashing down on us someday, but most people don't care. There's a lot of opposition to the war, but at this point you have to be an avid Kool-Aid drinker not to admit that.

4. My brain on rewind !!..Thanks for the Flashback..
Perhaps your generation would be more united if every single person knew someone fighting /dying in Iraq.

That is one difference between the two wars.
Vietnam experienced the draft.
Your friend or brother arriving in a Flag-drapped coffin is powerful.
Perhaps that's why Bush hid the coffins coming home from IRAQ, as well as the actual body count
of both Americans as well as Iraqis.

"Nothing to see here, please go on with your busy day now.
Besides,protesters are just unpatriotic!"

..or so said Bush's handlers. I do think more strategic planning went into crowd control and public perception of Bushs war than the actual invasion itself.
and that's quite telling of the degree of manipulation that originally took place.

-------------------------
...but then our generation never had YOUTUBE..your generation has tools to move mountains that we did not.
Nice to see them utilized in protest to Bush.
you're doing fine!

6. Why is it that peace is such a difficult concept for so many people?
"Give peace a chance". It is a chance I would love to take. but why, why, is it so difficult to put it into action? Are we afraid of being seen as "girly men"?
