9. Um.. I don't see any Chicago police beating any delegates heads open. |

Feel the love!
:loveya:
Would McCain and Romney supporters be so impassioned for their candidates? Hell no!
I think an Obama/Clinton or Clinton/Obama with whoever gets the most delegates at the head of the ticket will generate a LOT of enthusiasm this fall.
And John Edwards in the cabinet.
John McCain won't get the same effect from inviting Romney on board.
:applause:

11. my comment was really tongue-in-cheek... |

I know they were only scrapping about their signs...it just got me thinking about what political violence has often been like in this country, and throughout its history...I was just musing about the difference between this rather genteel scrap over signs, and the militant chaos of the '68 convention...

But I got a cool sign - so good for them. :-)

:D I'm 52, and have some pretty vivid memories of anti-war riots in Berkeley (lots of teargas), and the '68 convention, etc.
I know, it was goofy 'cause they were both Dem's...it was just so...genteel...compared to some :D
Wellcome to DU :hi:
EDIT: I see from your homepage that you are a musician; so is my daughter. She plays some pretty hot piano and sings beautifully. She is working with a musician up here in The City, and has recorded a CD.

5. There appears to be this kind of sheepish mentality |
|
that divides the volunteers between our two remaining candidates. The candidates are 95% similar on the issues. Seriously. What's with all of this hostility between supporters of both candidates? Was it always this way? Is it because the primaries are coming to an end? Or, is it because the media has created this narrative of an adversarial, contentious race between the two candidates who, again, are 95% similar?
Who knows? Maybe it's just an excuse for the petty jerk within most people to emerge from latency, even if it is to bicker with people with whom they mostly agree.
I have a feeling that much of this stems from life imitating "art" (or tabloid news narratives).

I think it's a lot of things - one being volunteers are just passionate. I mean, they're volunteers. The only reason they're there is to help the campaign, so they go overboard...
...and how long has it been since we've had a 2 person race like this... in the PRIMARIES? It's crazy. I know we're all political junkies, but I'm a BIG football fan as well - and I'm counting down the hours to super TUESDAY. That's insane.

7. Because it's not about the issues. |
|
It's about the perception in the Obama camp that the Clinton camp feels as though their candidate is entitled to the Presidency, and the perception in the Clinton camp that the Obama camp is disrespecting the accomplishments of the Clinton administration. I think that, issues of race and gender aside, that's what it all really boils down to.

That's why I have decided not to join either camp. But will vote in the GE for the one that remains standing. I just hope the supporters of the losing candidate will do the same.

I mean how could EITHER side vote for extending the war? I mean - can you believe it? The other side is fighting over WHO WANTS IT TO DRAG ON LONGER.
lol - that's hilarious to me.
