With all the talk the past few days on yet another round of astronomical oil company profits, I thought it fitting to post this excerpt from the award-winning documentary
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwyAA2Zt8CI">Crude Impact, a film which has been an official selection at over twenty film festivals around the world and has won numerous awards, including the prestigious Social Justice Award at the 22nd Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival, the prestigious International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam, and three awards at the Sacramento International Film Festival - Best Documentary, Best Editing, and Best Environmental Film, and was nominated for Best World Popular Scientific Film at the 42nd International Popular Scientific and Documentary Film Festival in Olomouc, Czech Republic.
This excerpt documents how oil companies exploit those who happen to get in their way and the environmental and cultural damage they leave in their wake, all in the name of those record profits.
BTW, be sure to watch the whole film. It features some DU favorites like Air America's Thom Hartmann who is also the author of the book "The Last Hours of Sunlight" and Democracy Now's Amy Goodman. Such a critically acclaimed film is sure to be worth your time, isn't it?
