21. I was thrown out of Hillary Event in ALB NM for my Obama T-shirt |
|
I was just wearing an Obama O8 T-shirt and had several Obama stickers on my back.
First one member of The Machine staff came up to me and told me to "get over to the side" - out of the view of the TV cameras.
We were in a public high-school Gym. Highland High in Albuquerque.
So I went over to the side out of view of the cameras. I did not say or do anything to anyone, but a few Hillary Zombies came up to me and called me an "Asshole" for showing up. I said, "Well, I'm about 85% sure I support Obama, but I want to hear what she has to say since I may have to support her if she wins the nomination." The Zombies said "Go home asshole."
Then about 10 minutes later somebody realized I was near the door where Billary was going to come on in. So a VERY BIG dude comes up to me and says "Do you have another shirt to wear? I'm going to have to ask you to leave, We have a policy that we don't allow other campaign shirts at our rallies."
I refused to go, saying I had every right to wear the shirt, and listen to her speech in the public high school gym that my taxes helped pay to build.
But the big dude threw me out. I got to go down the whole line of Hillary 'supporters' in the line outside for the event and tell my story - interesting thing was - about 40% of them said they were "probably going with Obama" -- and to a person they agreed it was Bull that i'd been thrown out for my shirt.
I probably picked up 20-30 Obama votes just on their arrogance and anti-free speech attitude.
I learned a whole lot more personally what people mean when they say "The Clinton Machine".

22. When I saw her in June in DC |
|
Her people were just like you described here. Obnoxious and demanding allegiance. Anyone who said anything they didn't like was told "Show the senator some respect or we will have to ask you to leave."
I couldn't tell if I was at a Hillary event or a republican one.

23. In NM - they told everyone that wearing a Hillary Sticker was "mandatory" to get in |
|
I took their sticker and posted it on my jacket, then tore it off and took off my jacket when i got inside.
It was pretty eerie them telling all these normal people to put on a Hillary sticker just to get in.
Nothing like that at the Obama rally i went to in Alb.

24. When Bill was here a few weeks ago, they insisted we had to give our phone numbers to get in |
|
Then the next day, a Hillary person called me to ask for a donation. I said sorry I am supporting John Edwards. So the Hillary person said but didn't you go see President Clinton last night. I said yes but I went to see him because he was a great president, not because I support his wife. And the Hillary person hung up on me!
Next time I will just give a fake number. Sheesh.

2. They were going to arrest him for his sign? Ugh. |
|
That was quite disturbing; he had every right to be there expressing his opinion as did the pro-Hillary supporters.
Reminds me of Bush crap.

3. In all fairness, I think most campaigns ban homemade signs at |
|
their rallies AND having one kid on the other kid's shoulders in a crowd that tight is a hazard.

8. I can go along with asking him to get down from that guy's shoulders |
|
But he should have been allowed to hold his sign and he shouldn't have been asked to leave.

4. Funny - Obama events are too big to police like that |

but I've never seen an anti-Obama sign at one.

10. Well, it's the title of the youtube video |
|
And you are supposed to use those titles here, right? At least that was the rule when they started this forum. I would have changed it otherwise, as I think it is a bad title.

13. I understand your dilemma... |
|
...but, I would've changed it anyway. But my objective wasn't to ignore the crux of your post - I've appended my original post with another post expressing my outrage at the Clinton people for ejecting protesters from the event.

12. Besides my distaste for the "Billary" label, her security personnel had NO RIGHT... |
|
...to eject protesters from the event. They were merely HOLDING a sign!!!
Senator Clinton needs to answer for this. The assault on our right to assemble and our first amendment rights NEEDS TO STOP!!!!:grr:

17. I don't care if it's a video |
|
it's more appropriate to put into the GD Primaries category due to the fact that it's bashing one candidate at the other's expense.

19. this happened in Denver and they didn't throw them out soon enough |
|
I don't know if this is a bunch of full of themselves students or what--since Obama is campaigning for help even among those not old enough to vote.
In Denver just a handful of people were preventing the majority of attendees from even hearing what Bill Clinton came to say. This is not free speech, this is political disruption. If opponents of Obama came down to do that to him, they'd have to take off work (since in Denver Obama scheduled in the middle of the day) and what's the point of being a jerk? I'd say this video says droves about the personal maturity of Obama supporters. Quite frankly I have better things to do than to shout down someone I disagree with--like support my candidate in a meaningful way.
I for one am fed up with jerks--first it was years of the conservative jerks name-calling, defaming, shouting, and putting down democrats, and now this. Whatever happened to the civil society? Shouting a person down proves nothing, nothing, nothing.
