I can't believe we're considering going down that same old road with these two again.

That time has come and gone.

And 99% of us know that HRC couldn't win against McCain. We know that the GOP is salivating for a Clinton nomination.

Why give them what they want? We want to win in November, right?

6. It is a Fact
That Clinton couldn't get shit done his second term due to this. Whether or not the witch hunt was justified is another matter, and for the record my opinion is that it was most certainly not.

Look, I know that the Clinton hatred is irrational. Do I give a shit about Bill Clinton getting head in the oval office? Fuck no. I hate that the poor guy had to undergo such a sleazy witch hunt. But the fact remains that Bill Clinton knew the GOP operatives were gunning for them, and he fucked around anyway--in effect jeopardizing the entire progressive agenda over sex with a chubby intern.

So fuck Bill.

His time has come and gone.

And honestly, the lying and race-baiting of late has led me to question whether or not I was in fact the one who was wrong about Bill in the 90's.

7. well, ive never gave two shits about the clintons
in the 90s or now. so i have no intent on defending their name.
i just hate this blow job bullshit.

i blame the republicans for him being distracted, not the fact he actually got a bj.

i just think its lame that it hasta be used as a talking point to justify not voting for a clinton, there are plenty of other valid reasons why.
its un-necessary. thats just how i feel.

Edited on Thu Feb-14-08 05:32 PM by Buck Power
Whether or not it was the bj or the distraction, he gave them the ammo to take him down.

That shows awful judgement, and terrible priorities.

Country before cock.

9. i guess
but to me its a morality hit.

i didnt agree with it when the republicans did it, and i dont agree with it if a democrat does it.

like i said, if ud take a look at the entire clinton presidency, you could find A LOT of examples of him showing awful judgement and having bad priorities.

pointing out he got a bj and then claiming it ruined the progressive movement is just nuts if u ask me.

Maybe it's unseemly, but it's fuckin' A true.

I showed LOTS of other examples. This was simply one.

It is NOT irrelevant.

He let them take us down. And HE is the reason Al Gore faced an uphill battle and the democrats lost the white house in 2000.

last time i checked, they stole the election through voter fraud. you know, the fraud that NOBODY in the democratic establishment fault back against....
call me crazy.

bill clinton didnt make us lose anything.

if you hate him, just say it... dont beat around the bush.... tee hee.

somehow this conversation went from me simply saying that the use of it is distasteful to you calling bill clinton the sole reason we lost the 2000 election...

f'in incredible.

17. You guys
love to put words in people's mouths.

I never said it was the "sole reason".

It was a factor.

Apparently, some of the superdelegates are still bitter about that very fact, and are defecting to Obama. So deny it all you like, but apparently not everyone has forgotten.

how could ANYTHING else be a factor when there was fraud! fraud makes all other arguements irrelevant dontcha think ? seeing as regardless of what clinton did , or someone like nader, they manipulated votes.

you really give the clintons way to much credit.

in 2000.

The SCOTUS illegitimately awarded the Presidency to GWB.

Fraud was 2004.

45. Well yes
Ohio actually was an original plot. It didn't rely on the SCOTUS or purging voters from the rolls. They took a whole new approach.

OK, so there was fraud in 2000.

What I meant was that we didn't lose because of fraud in 2000. We lost because of a corrupt, partisan SCOTUS. Ohio was another story.

Edited on Fri Feb-15-08 09:39 AM by iamthebandfanman
it did involve purging voters from rolls.

like i said, you should really look into florida in 2000. they threw away ballets, they excluded 55,000 people from voting when it shoulda been less than a thousand, supposedly jewish people voted for buchanen(which is insane if you know what hes said about jews), AND flyiers being handed out with wrong information about boting times, dates, and locations. sound familiar ?

SCOTUS was only part of it.
them excluding voters from even being able to vote, and them throwing away ballets while they were STILL IN COURT probably had more to do with it.

hard to win a scotus case when all the evidence is in a land fill.

63. Read
Ron Fournier's latest piece for the AP about why the superdelegates are beginning to desert Hillary.

Some are labor leaders still angry that Bill Clinton championed the North American Free Trade Agreement as part of his centrist agenda.

Some are social activists who lobbied unsuccessfully to get him to veto welfare reform legislation, a talking point for his 1996 re-election campaign.

Some served in Congress when the Clintons dismissed their advice on health care reform in 1993. Some called her a bully at the time.

Some are DNC members who saw the party committee weakened under the Clintons and watched President Bush use the White House to build up the Republican National Committee.

Some are senators who had to defend Clinton for lying to the country about his affair with Monica Lewinsky.

Some are allies of former Vice President Al Gore who still believe the Lewinsky scandal cost him the presidency in 2000.

Some are House members (or former House members) who still blame Clinton for Republicans seizing control of the House in 1994.

the Clintons have no place on a Democratic website... especially given that they stated today that they effectively do not believe in the democratic nature of our primaries and encouraged the superdelegates to overturn the will of the people.

I won't even get started on the race-baiting and lies.

If they cared about us, they'd drop out already so we can get to work on McCain.

But your point is noted. I would've never gone there if I didn't believe that the Clinton campaign had pulled out all the stops themselves by playing the race card.

if a democrat doesnt win, more is at work than hillary clinton.

you dont have much political 'know how' if you think the majority of americans would actually legitimately vote for them again.

the only way i could even conceived that happening is if people actually consciously thought to themselves, you know i dont want one party to have all the branches of government like they did the last 8 years. if thats the case, maybe someone like hillary couldnt win. but other than that, they are broken and defeated ... and beyond that mccain will be an easy target in a general election.

welp, im off for the night.

I hate to have to do remedial democracy with you, but so be it. If you think it's HRC's race to lose, you're the only one. Maybe against Romney or Huckabee. But McCain, coupled with the GOP smear machine and HRC's polarizing nature could easily spell loss in November.

Let's look at the facts again:

1. Obama outpolls McCain in head to heads. Hillary does not.

2. Obama gets independents. He'll steal them right out from under McCain's nose. Hillary? Fuggetaboutit. And without some independents, she'll never top 49%.

3. The GOP is in shambles. Obama can blow them away. Hillary will serve only to unite them and will the the best GOTV weapon in their arsenal.

47. ur basing this on
independents who voted in a primary.
you can not base who they will vote for in a general election on that.

because they are what they are, independent.

i do agree if any candidate would inspire to unite the GOP, it probably would be hillary... but only because they have the same hatred and anger about anything CLINTON that you do.

still tho, uve deviated from the whole point i was making originally... and thats using the BJ as an attack video is just really lame and really shows how little you can really dig up about the guy.
once again, like i keep telling u and u keep ignoring... there are plenty of things those two points could be replaced with that would be more than valid reasons against him.

i just dont see the BJ as one of them. i didnt when republicans brought it up, and i dont when you bring it up.
its called consistency, you should look into it.

51. It doesn't
show how little I can dig up on the guy.

If you'll notice, you barely have enough time to read the text in the video. I was simply afraid to throw more stuff in there and make it even less readable. And I do not consider the affair with Mrs. Lewinsky to be scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to examples of pisspoor judgement. I think it's a damned fine example.

I also used the example that Bill Clinton pushed the Democratic party to the right with his DLC bullshit. He also kowtowed to the right in firing Jocelyn Elders for simply telling a UN conference on AIDS that masturbation was an acceptable alternative to riskier sexual behavior. They also did more to fuel the drug war and imprison nonviolent offenders than any three presidents before him. He gave us NAFTA. He also pushed behind the scenes for the failed Dubai Ports deal. And he failed to fully support John Kerry in 2004 out of selfish reasons (as in he wanted his wife to get him back into the white house in 2008).

You could make a case that Nixon was more liberal than Clinton.

Happy?
