60. Hillary is mocking Obama's supporters as much as Barack - A reckless indulgence on her part
Edited on Sun Feb-24-08 09:35 PM by bushmeat
This will cost her votes. No one mocks anyones supporters to this extent and wins a single voter over.

"The Sky Will Open, The Light Will Come Down" Mocking - no other meaning to these words.

41. Ever since she said she was proud to be with Obama at the last debate
she's really gone downhill. She could've used that moment to stay positive and not further divide the party, but instead she's been *incredibly* negative this weekend. It's brutal to watch and is just embarrassing at this point.

Not only is she misrepresenting what he's saying, she's making herself just sound silly in the bargain.

I noticed she seems to be going for the "I'm more intelligent than you dumb idiots who believe in hope" vote. Observe the many signs behind her that tout her as "The SMART Choice."

In other words, don't go for someone else. People will think you are stupid. Vote for me, because SMART people vote for me. Only dumb people can possibly think long and hard about their choices and actually conclude that they prefer someone else!

the entire campaign. Obama is promising the moon and he knows damn well he can't deliver all that. Oh well, he's got zazz, and it's really working out for him so far. A job well done on his part.

I doubt this will help her, but nothing else has worked so she might as well go for it. You know, campaigns really aren't about being polite or righteous. They're about winning. That isn't likely now, so she's decided to go out swinging. Go get em' killer!!

I mean seriously, WTF?

Hillary tells it like it is and has the nerve to say that unity is not something achieved magically by waving a friggen wand, and that it's complicated and difficult.

How dare she!

The hysterical and shrill reaction of so many Obama supporters here make me question their thinking... and in turn makes me question what their reasoning is for supporting Obama.

In other words if Obama's supporters look unhinged and naive, what's that say about him?

26. I've had some of the same concerns about Obama - but all candidates
tend to make promises that sound too simplistic.

I did hear a foreign affairs advisor to Obama tell Charlie Rose some of the steps he's taken behind the scenes, and that was reassuring -- that he (and I assume Hillary) are laying the groundwork to get their plans in motion when one or the other becomes POTUS.

33. Hillary is the one making promises she can't keep.
Obama says in every speech that it will take effort by the people to make change happen and that he can't do it by himself. Yet, Hillary seems to be promising that she has the experience to solve all of our problems FOR US. Well, she can't. She has a very top-down view of how change happens and she's setting people up for disappointment.

36. Hillary never said she can do it herself. So stop lying just because you like her opponent.
But again it does not help if Democrats don't stand behind her and instead mocking her of being divisive like other Republicans do. So next time when Obama is the target of the rep. attack, should we also accuse him of being divisive like he does to Hillary?

She's ready on day one and so on. She's claiming that her personal abilities are the only answer to America's problems, while Obama says it will take the people working together. Obama's message empowers the people while Hillary only aggrandizes her self.

51. Why lie again just because you like Obama?
"She's claiming that her personal abilities are the only answer to America's problems,"

Where and when did she claim that?

"while Obama says it will take the people working together. Obama's message empowers the people while Hillary only aggrandizes her self."

So what did Obama do in the senate to bring people and parties together? Obama's message is the empower people to vote for him, to fulfill his political ambitions by falsely claiming that Hillary is divisive. How is that different from Hillary's "aggrandizing"?

54. Calm down.
What exactly did I lie about? Has Hillary not been talking about her experience and ability to make change at EVERY campaign stop? Its the basis for her entire campaign. Her argument it that change will only happen with her and not Obama because she has more experience. If you think that's a lie then you've been living in a hole for the last month.

Obama brought people together from both parties on several issues such as his nuclear non-proliferation bill with Lugar and his ethics reform bill, both of which became law. Their are many more examples, including in the Illinois State Senate.

And no, Obama does not just empower people to vote for him. He talks specifically about issues and the change he would work toward. The focus of all community organizing is to empower people in their communities. Obama learned those lessons well as a grass roots organizer and he's taking that approach to government.

She simply isn't the ONE and that is NOT Obama's fault ... she's proved that SHE represents the "special interests (that) just won't disappear" ... fucking time she has stood up to the repugs! Was it FISA, was it torture, was it Alberto, when the fuck was it? Neither one of them have accomplished anything. The whole of the Senate and House democrats (Obama included) have failed to lead this party & enforce the rule of law. If she/he can't lead her/his own party in the Senate, explain to me how she has been taking on the repubs.

They are both full of shit. They are politicians, but I'll gladly take either one of them over McCain.

From the looks of this board & thread the Democrats don't really need power because they don't know how to use it. They fight & smear each other! That sophomoric smart ass mocking of another democrat is a right wing wholly political smear tactic & most of you are too fucking dumb to get your own hypocrisy! She sounded to me childish, just like dubya often does.

Hillary tells it like it is, but Obama tells it like could be. I think Obama's greatest gift to give us is inspiration of our potential. If he told the youth today that we were going to reduce foreign oil dependency in the next 10 years by 50% we would work hard to do it, but if you go around telling us we can't do this or that we don't want to here it.

You older folks have messed up our future so much it makes most of us youth sick. I want to see what we can do, and we will decide this election whether you want it, or not.

He has many times said it is going to take the American people to help him get the change we need. I don't believe in magic wands and if we want change "We the people" need to help get it going is all he is saying. If memory serves me I remember when Al Gore and Bill were talking back in 92 about how the day is going to be beautiful and bright if they win but dark and gloomy if Bush won. Kinda like a magic wand to control the weather. But the message of hope was there.

56. Leadership is very important.
Its time we have a leader who will stick his or her neck out on an issue instead of waiting to support something until it has 60% popularity in the polls. Clinton's complete lack of leadership, from her Iraq war vote to dropping the issue of Universal health care for over a decade after 1993, is the primary reason I don't think she would be an effective President.

I see Hillary playing the old Clinton game of naming a list of policy ideas that almost no one could disagree with, but I want more than small, non-controversial change this time.

45. I respect Hillary's intelligence and will vote for her if she is the nominee BUT
the way she has mismanaged her own campaign makes me very nervous. Her campaign is a train wreck.

How sad is that for a Democratic audience?? They sounded like they didn't WANT the special interests to disappear.

And singing the Barney song with the Repugs ain't gonna cut it.

But, hey... I like the Barney song. I can stomach 4 years of it if I have to. Until... what is it John Edwards said... the Republican freight truck runs through us and our party????

48. Fuck Her!
Watching her lose will be even more joyful.

No feeling sorry for someone who wants to label her rival with playground mocking.

Obama KNOWS how hard things will be. However, that shouldn't mean that you don't reach out and attempt to find common ground. It doesn't mean you don't try to open up channels of communication with your enemies.

Instead of sticking w/ her message, Hill can only attempt to label Obama's message because her message isn't getting any traction over Obama.

Now, somehow, she thinks cheap playground tactics will draw voters to her?

Is she banking, all the sudden people will shake their heads and think, why ... I don't belong in this crowd of 30,000 waiting to hear Obama's encouraging speech about bringing the country together. No ... I've heard the word according to Hillary. Her jokes make sense. Yes ... I need to vote for her.

Get a life Hillary!

The more jokes you tell and the more playground tactics you lean on only makes it more visible that you ... yes you Hillary, are the fucking joke.

To all the Hillbots out there who continue to banter about Obama supporters not realizing that Obama won't get your vote in November.

I say ... you gotta make a choice.

If you think that kind of talk combined with Hillary's playground speak is going to change things for Hillary you're wrong.

I guess you'll either be staying home, voting for McCain, or throwing your vote away on Nader.

You'll only prove how one dimensional you are in your blind support for Hillary and your attempt to get back to the "good old days" of the 90s.

Bill wasn't the progressive answer then, and Hillary isn't now.

If you think Hillary is the most progressive of the two you're head is in the sand. She's DLC all the way.

At this point she's in quick sand and the harder she fights it the faster she sinks.

I could be wrong, but we'll see.

57. More Power to Her!
All the power to her for having the courage to take this man on, head on! She's exactly right - he is corrupting a generation of young people and others into believing that we "together" can somehow "change the world" through collective fantasizing. Give me a break! Politics should never be connected with religion or spiritual salvation! I am sick and tired of being preached at by both Obama, his supporters and the media. Glamor, glitz and rock star rallies aren't going to change this nation. Sound policies, political skill, strenth of character, and hard WORK is what is required. Oh how I am tired of all the dismissiveness of Clinton's 35 years of public service experience. The sexism that has been evident throughout this nomination race, both from Obama and the Media, has DISGUSTED me.

59. Taking on?
What is she taking on?

What kind of rebuttal is she giving?

Playground antics!

SHE HAS BECOME A JOKE!

No one is saying she shouldn't stand in contrast to Obama. Non one is saying she shouldn't stand by her message, but an ANTI-Obama message is no message at all.

The real question is Hillbots ... will you be taking your ball and stomping home after Hillary concedes?

Face reality Hillbots, the country doesn't need Tracy Flick as our president.

61. Man
You are cynical! It's no wonder Obama is prevailing. Hope sells better than vague "Ready on Day One" speechifying. There's nothing sexist about it. She pisses people off and it's hard to vote for someone who has little positives. And don't get me started on HRC's affinity for LOBBYISTS and SPECIAL INTERESTS.

69. New Hillary Campaign Song
"I'm A Bitch," by Meredith Brooks

While women throughout the land sing this song as loud as they can on the floor of bars everywhere, it's not the kind of sentiment that makes for a good president.

Lyrics maestro:

===============================

I hate the world today
You're so good to me
I know but I can't change
tried to tell you but you look at me like maybe I'm an angel
underneath
innocent and sweet
Yesterday I cried
You must have been relieved to see the softer side
I can understand how you'd be so confused
I don't envy you
I'm a little bit of everything
all rolled into one

Chorus:
I'm a bitch, I'm a lover
I'm a child, I'm a mother
I'm a sinner, I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your health, I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
You know you wouldn't want it any other way

So take me as I am
This may mean you'll have to be a stronger man
Rest assured that when I start to make you nervous
and I'm going to extremes
tomorrow I will change
and today won't mean a thing

Chorus

Just when you think you've got me figured out
the season's already changing
I think it's cool you do what you do
and don't try to save me

Chorus

I'm a bitch, I'm a tease
I'm a goddess on my knees
when you hurt, when you suffer
I'm your angel undercover
I've been numbed, I'm revived
can't say I'm not alive
You know I wouldn't want it any other way

==============================

Here's how most Americans feel.

71. Comedy ain't her thing
This might have worked for a talk radio host or something who has the personality for it but Clinton doesn't pull it off. If she wants to show off how likable she can be this isn't the way. These kinds of remarks just plays up to the persona that she wants to avoid.

84. Round about the cauldron go: In the poison'd entrails throw.—
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 08:51 AM by Pryderi
Toad, that under cold stone,
Days and nights has thirty-one;
Swelter'd venom sleeping got,
Boil thou first i' the charmed pot!

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.

Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing,—
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

91. My dislike for both of them is equal
but I must say Hilary has a point- (it's sort of comical to watch the Hilary and Obama fights) :)

My personal belief is that nothing will change . Corporate interests have bought and paid for this country and ... we will not get it back.
Obama and Hilary are both typical politician who don't give a shit about a "real" change. It's just the same old bullshit lip service.

Maybe I sound negative- well, I guess am ...

See ya folks :hi:
