The question contains a LIE, in that it was NOT inadvertent that US citizens were spied on. More here:

Are ALL COMMUNICATIONS routed overseas to circumvent US law and the Constitution?

1. If the Telecos don't want to be sued for spying tell THEM to TELL uncle Sam to GET a COURT ORDER
if he wants to listen in.

It's simple enough even for you George.

They have enough gonads to tell you (uncle Sam) to pay your bill or no spying. They have enough gonads to tell you (uncle Sam) to follow the law that has been on the books since the last insane and/or evil president(Nixon) tried to become "King of the World."

Follow the law, get a court order and all will be well.

Otherwise, we will see you in court. You can make your case to the people. You say you "trust the people." So trust them. Let them have their day in court if the situation so calls for it.

George Bush and His father have appointed near to 40% of the federal judges in the land. Just how "stacked do the "decks" have to be before George W. Bush feels comfortable in any competition?

The very definition of the coward/bully. George W. Bush

2. Gee, those poor phone companies
They were TOLD it was legal, but now they are in danger of being sued because it wasn't actually legal. So we have to protect them from being sued. Because what they were told was a lie. Because they don't have any lawyers who could help them decide if it was legal or not. Because if they think they are in legal danger without immunity, that must mean they know what the government is asking them to do is illegal. Because Bush is here admitting just that.

What an ass. Did any of the reporters challenge this idiocy, or did they just sit there like lumps?

6. Actually, I'm not sure they were told it was legal. Why? Because we are told nothing, Congress is
told nothing, and we are being told to grant immunity for unknown offenses, a ROFLMAO-crazy expectation.

4. He made a big mistake by saying that they were told it was legal...
It allows the telecoms to subpoena members of the Department of Justice. This means that the DOJ will have to either side with the telecoms and go against what they said under oath in congressional hearings or avoid purgery and throw the telecoms under the bus. That is why GW is FREEEEAKING OUT over this.
