To be honest, I do not know the date of the capture for this but I thought it insightful. The driver comes off as a very together guy, though I have to say he probably should have thought a bit more before taking this job in the first place.

Uploader's description: Graphic video of another convoy attack in Iraq. A surviving wounded driver speaks of event and getting fired from his job.

1. SOP
Standard operating procedure is to fight through the ambush, then once clear, turn around and fight back to the diabled vehicles. The unit did what SOP dictated. I don't buy into the "abandoned" thing. Keeping all the vehicles in the kill zone is NEVER a good idea.

2. Okay, it makes sense
But it makes our military seem less gallant than they are portrayed in the movies, that's for sure. What really surprises me is that KBR fired him for getting shot in the arm and being disabled.

3. Things are confusing
What may appear from one side is different elsewhere. What surprises me from this is how the gunship laid down 500 rounds. The cyclical rate on a 50 is 550 rounds per minute. If they had a 240, the cyclic rate is even higher. Just seems like they didn't fire many rounds. Nothing would be served by stopping the convoy. Additionally, I never did a convoy op ever where contingency plans weren't discussed prior to SPing, and this would have been discussed.

Thanks for your insight, I am sure others find it helpful, too.
